Hormel Beef Tamales, 15 Ounce (Pack of 12)

What can I say, they are HORMEL !!

We love the Chicken or the Beef tamales. Throw a can of chili beans and shredded cheese cheesy on them. All the protein. Great quick meal.

I mentioned this purchase to my housekeeper and her comment was! "I don't like canned tamales" !! Of course, she makes tamales at home for Christmas and they are FAR superior to ANYTHING you can get in a can! I have to agree with her, but when home made tamales are not available, these canned ones will have to do! They are as good as you can expect for "mass produced tamales!! ACF

I've always loved these since I was a child and Mom used to make them for us in a pinch. Mom says her Mom made them for her and her Dad back in the 40's and 50's and she loved them back then also! She says her Mom used to heat them in the sealed can in boiling water before opening them to serve. I heat them in the microwave in 3 minutes. They didn't have microwaves back then! Great taste that amazingly I don't get burned-out on. I bought two cases of 12 cans each and eat about one can/week and I always enjoy them. Can't beat the price. I want to have plenty of these available when society collapses and there is no more food available. LOL!

As a standalone meal item, these are a culinary abomination. They're wrapped in paper and are small, and seemed very glutinous. However, if you combine these with Hormel chili, as an additive to give us some thickening, these were great. What I do is put a can of these, peel off the paper wrapping, chop them a bit, and add them to a can of chili. It's a good filler.

I used to eat these myself before I went back to being a vegetarian & I loved them with a plop of peanut butter on top, melted in the microwave. Hubby likes them too, but without the PB! UPDATE 06/15/2022: I have weakened! Now I am back to eating these yummy canned tamales too! I still love them with a plop of creamy peanut butter on top! I'm eating a bowl full right now and just ordered another case of them! These are so easy to warm-up in a microwave, so I don't heat up my kitchen in summer! Yum, yum, here we come! UPDATE 11/06/2022: So I just got another case of these yummy Tamales. I see that all of the cans in the middle of the case are super dented! So, now I can not use any of these dented ones for our long term/winter food storage! None of the cans are leaking, but the dents are pretty bad, so we will need to eat them soon. Question... HOW do the middle cans always manage to get so badly dented? AND, why are all the cans on the outside of the case fine? Are these cans repackaged to deliberately conceal the dented cans to get rid of them? I have had this issue with so many other canned foods and pet foods that I order too! Hummm...

This was delivered quickly. The cans were mostly not bent.

I bought the case of these because you can’t get them in Canada but are a family favourite- but I think I got a bad batch- took them out and put in microwave- when I unwrapped them they fell to pieces- looked like dog food😳 but thought I would still try them the taste was gritty and unpalatable!!! Tried another can and the same thing- afraid to try any more- what a disappointment!

Good product but ìs horribly overpriced

It is a very good product that needs to be more widely available in Canada. The only problem is too high a price. Amazon needs to do more to obtain a supply that does not have the same out of line pricing.
