Does thermometer show automatically or do I need to turn it on somewhere? I got 3 dispensers and the thermometer are not showing from all 3.

I ordered 3 as well. The temp automatically increased as we add liquid, however, one was off a bit from the other two.

Is this leakproof for transport?

They are. However, as extra precaution we put it back into the box it came in from Amazon for extra stability.

Can insulated beverage dispenser be used for hot milk?

Yes,it can be used for hot milk.

How long can this keep hot beverages hot without being plugged in?

It doesn't have an option to plug in. We had hot liquid in it for 10 hours. First 2 hours held the original temp but for every hour after that it lost a couple degrees
