Great phone for talking & simple texting
Great cell for outdoor, industrial, and heavy equipment type work. Very rugged, long battery life on standby/talk time, strongly recommend for someone that works hard and typically goes through @ 5 cell phones per year.

Buyer Beware!
6/7/21 Update: After 3 different phones, and three different batteries, from both Sonim, and aftermarket companies, the battery life of this phone is still unacceptable. From everything I have been able to gather this a a perfect example of planned obsolescence. Each new phone, each new battery, starts their first charge/discharge cycle perfectly. On the first life cycle of each new phone and battery the lifespan is roughly 14-20 days with minimal use. After the first life cycle the battery life drops to as little as 12 hours. As best as I can determine this is because the current software on the phone analyzes the current battery, and after its first charge/discharge cycle it does everything it can to cause or display battery drain. I know that Apple was shunned for this years ago with a software update for iphones, and I suspect that, because Sonim is a much smaller company that it "flew under the radar" with their similar tactic. This phone is everything I wanted, and a bit more, but after months and months of trial and error it's time to say goodbye. I will be replacing this phone with a Nokia 6300, not as rugged, not as long lasting a battery, not nearly as much functionality, but hopefully it will suffice. I can't be the only one who wants a basic phone with a weather app, google maps, ruggedness, and long battery life, right? I think what I will miss the most is the notification LED. Not having to look at the screen of the phone to see if there was a message, a missed call, or a voicemail was wonderful! 1/2/20 Update: I received my replacement phone, and experienced the same issue (shortened battery life), within two weeks. The battery, that should last over two weeks with my usage, now lasts a day if I am lucky. This is with minimal use, and the phone in standby mode 99% of the time. However, I am not willing to give up just yet, and luckily neither is Amazon customer service! I received a refund for this 2nd phone, and the advice to try a third time. There is a possibility that I have just been unlucky so, third time is the charm! Wish me luck, and thank you Amazon customer service for helping me! 12/21/20 Initial review: Don't get me wrong, I love this phone. In fact Amazon is sending me a replacement for the one that has malfunctioned as we speak. The issues: These phones are out of production. When you purchase this phone or ANY Sonim phone from Amazon you are not covered by their warranty. Only phones purchased from select cell phone carriers, or Sonim directly, are covered under warranty. My phone worked flawlessly for the first 80 days. The battery life was amazing, ten days without charging minimum, and nearly twenty days between charging once! Then one day the battery started running out of juice daily. No apps, no programs, no functions of the phone had changed, and neither had how, where, or how long I used the phone. The now six plus year old battery had decided it was its time to die. I still have high hopes for the replacement phone. Maybe the new phone battery will survive longer. If not, I will likely succumb to the pressures of a touch screen only phone. Long live long battery life, and ruggedness!

Mobile heavy duty Great
A device that withstands shocks. But as for dealing with it, it is slow, This is quite good as for the price. The signal is always weak. I recommend buying it because of its price, it is the best price compared to other devices with the same capabilities.

Outgoing audio is absolute rubbish - sounds muffled!
I bought this for my elderly Dad for Christmas because flip phones are getting harder to find and he's 93 - he needs something rugged AND that he can hear. Well he can definitely hear it ring and hear people talk on it. And the phone is, indeed, rugged. What we were NOT expecting though, is that every person he calls, including myself, hear nothing but a bunch of muffled noise from his end of the conversation. He sounds like he's underwater or something. It's awful! 😬 It's been a real learning curve, too, trying to teach him to use it, as it is unnecessarily complex. He's learning though (he isn't your typical 93 year old... he has an iPad and knows how to navigate on it so he isn't totally inept when it comes to stuff like this). But that sound garbage may be a deal breaker. What good does a phone do if no one can make out what you're saying to them?

On a very outdated Android Version and you can not update it
What am I missing? This is running android ver 4. Why would anyone use this phone? It's insecure and I am having issues using apps that require the latest SSL.

This product will not connect with any computer i have, its asking for ADB Port debug, which for me is a bit confusing. I thought it would be just plug and go like other phones and cameras, but no. I have purchased a lot products form Amazon all of which i am satisfied with. This product i am extremely dissatisfied with. I haven't been able to use it for my intended purpose since day one. Its useless to me.
