Can these be cut to fit in a certain space? I need one in the bathroom as my mother keeps falling off the toilet.

I cut mine to fit where I wanted it. Keep in mind though, it is very thick so you need special tools. And, if the end you cut is going to be exposed, you will want to remove a section out of the center, not the end. Otherwise you lose the tapered end that makes it safe to walk onto.

Which side is down? Is it supposed to be gray side up?

Grey side is up and fall matt is flushed with floor

does this mat protect hardwood floors urine and does come in wider size?
