This was a great purchase for when teaching newbies or kids fly fishing. The bulk flies will still catch fish, but won't make you cry when someone snags a tree for the third time. The flies look good, allow for "match the hatch" potential, and are durable enough to survive an all day trip. The sheer number of nymphs in this set lets cast without fear of snagging the bottom and losing flies trying to get to that rock where the fish are hiding. You never like to retie or lose flies on a trip, but that's what makes this set useful. I would keep a hook sharpener with you. The tips will dull after a few snags, but hitting them with a sharpener gets you back to solid hookups. You won't confuse these with handtied guide specials but they are solid, keep you patient when retying after your kiddo breaks off again, won't break the bank, and most importantly, catch fish!

I'm not much of a fly fisherman but seem to be good quality and catch fish. Good assortment of different types of fly's for different situations. They work for this novice fly guy.

Flies can be pretty inexpensive, which is great if you're just starting out. Don't let the low price fool you though; they can still catch fish! For a beginner, it's a fantastic way to learn the basics of fly fishing without breaking the bank. You'll be surprised how effective these budget-friendly options can be on the water.

Very low quality but you get a lot. I bought them for sunfish and other pan fish to go in my popper fly box. Worth ten bucks but the materials look like nothing I ever tied with, lol. I am sure they will work fine.

Good starter kit for bluegill, crappie and stocked trout. Not good for wild trout.

Sorted through the flies, not made of great material, poor craftsmanship and the hooks seem larger than what is stated in the listing. I’m going to buy a separate box to keep them in and use the ones that are usable for general fishing and unknown water, I don’t care if I lose them or not.

I caught 5 fish straight away on these flies today.. and it cold here in Idaho on this January day. Looking forward to using them in spring.

These flies are pretty clumsily tied and aggressively sized, but for the price I suppose you can't complain. I used them while I was getting back into fly fishing and I was working on my cast, so that I didn't end up losing good quality and expensive flies into trees and snags. Might be worth it if you're just starting out. They'll definitely catch fish in the right situation.
