Read the directions folks!! This scanner and converter is a great value and I've had no issues converting 8mm Video 8 VRC and regular VRC to USB and SD cards. I don't agree with the negative reviews. Read the directions!! It WILL burn to MPG (Mac OSX native by the way) - I needed this and change it in settings from the default MP4. It has no issues with USB - Reused USB drives are finicky so yes to always freshly format before starting your video project (even if new) and use no larger than 32GB, same for SD cards. All this is in the manual. I found that 25min of video conversion at HQ level equals around 1GB MPG files size. So 32GB media is plenty of space for a typical 120min tape. Now here's a tip and reality check - this unit does not contain a Crey supercomputer so it needs time to process and burn. I personally found that small 25 min chunks of video burn reasonably well and I give the unit time to process and burn. Follow the screen prompts and al shoddy be well. Be realistic with these types of devices - they are not pro level and there is a tradeoff on performance, etc. I found it is way to use but I needed to review the manual to find out most of what I mentioned here.

Like some other users I had this sitting unopened in the box for a few months, and just attempted to use it to transfer VHS to USB. Once I read the manual and found the (unstated) restrictions for USB/Cards I ensured I used a 32GB FAT32 drive. I had a separate monitor next to the Wolverine and the video and sound from VHS were perfect. Unplugged from the monitor and into the Wolverine, nothing. The in-system menus worked fine, then the screen went blank with backlight, a 0 kb blank file would be created if I hit Record, and I tried different combinations of functions with different storage devices. It's a brick. An expensive brick. Update: I contacted support and they had me send the unit back (on my dime) for evaluation. They sent me a replacement and... no video! Surprise surprise. At least this time it does pretend to record, though there's nothing recorded because there's no video received. Yeah, don't get this thing.

it is garbage, is not working and Amazon does not pay you back when you try to return it, Amazon does not accept returning it and playing games with you. I do not trust Amazon anymore. When you want to buy this item, it does not show the message that you can not return it. What Amazon is doing is fraud.
