Q: Please someone explain to me which mode should I use...could I hurt my watch if I use a wrong mode?

Depends on the watch. If you have one with a comfortable power reserve, setting 1 or 2 is probably enough. I have an skx007 with a 7s26 movement that loses time so I keep it on #3.

Q: Is anyone experiencing motor noise or malfunctions after extended ownership?

We haven't experienced any noise after 3 years. I'm very happy with the watch winder.
