Designed for tough urban environments. WiFi devices all share the same airwaves, and just like an old highway with not enough lanes, your internet slows to crawl whenever there are too many people and devices bottle-necking the same slow channels. Crowds also crush your range and coverage. Portal uses patented technologies that give your devices more WiFi bandwidth on exclusive fast channels to avoid speed-sucking range-crushing congestion; the result, consistently fast reliable internet, lag-free gaming and smooth ultraHD video streaming anywhere in your home. And Portal works with your existing network and all your favorite WiFi devices today. Key Features: - Patented Multi-Channel Zero-Wait DFS enables exclusive use of special radar-protected channels, 3x more spectrum than conventional routers - Powerful split-intelligence processor and innovative network self-optimization algorithms ensure consistent and reliable high-speed and wide area coverage. - 10x state-of-the-art radios (802.11ac 5GHz, 802.11b/g/n 2.4GHz, Bluetooth Smart) - 9x powerful, high-gain, power amplified, conformal antenna for maximum range and coverage - 4x 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet Ports + 1x Gigabit WAN Port - 2x USB 2.0 Ports - Compatible with all IEEE 802.11 compliant devices - Android and iOS application for smart configuration and setup - Secure WebUI for traditional PC-based configuration and setup

It will speed you up, but you sacrifice features
As you can see from the photo, this boosted my speed from an avg 23 Mbps to an avg 350 Mbps. While that certainly is impressive, the Portal is a work in progress and lacks most features of other routers. Aside from the speed, which is achieved by their fast lanes, there is nothing to cheer for. I love speed, but I need functions like parent controls, need automatic QOS, and I need to be able to simply name the device settings with one touch so I can see who is active as well as what. I also want to know what speed and what band each item is running at. I will probably purchase a DD-WRT router that may not get the blazing speeds this one has, but that I can fully control and optimize. I suspect this company released this before the software was 20% done in hopes of having their technology slid to one of the big names and never planned to finish the software design. If they do sell to Linksys, Netgear, or DLink you will never get this speed because everyone will be on these now empty lanes.

Almost Perfect!
This router is fantastic. Definitely sped up my devices individually on average which was really cool to see. Easily covers my entire 1400sqft home as well as entire front and back yards. Only reason for 4 stars is the USB2.0 ports, really wish they were USB3. Also wish it supported some more file formats, but support has stated it is in the pipeline (with no timeline).

Best router I've ever owned at any price
I tried everything from Belkin to Apple's Airport Extreme to The Tp-Link 7200 (which is Fast, but I had to reboot it almost every day) to the new Google Mesh (great if your connrction never goes above 30Mbps - I have 1Gbps so no, 30 Mbps wasn't Great!) but This router beats them all. Fast, reliable easy to set up and always finds the fastest connection.

I had a lot of problems with some of my devices because of the fast-lane but it's taken me awhile and it seems to be working ok but half the time I don't know which portal is running.

It installed easily, but the performance was really no better than oem router. I ultimately returned it for the Linksys Velop which has a more robust control application and gives me far greater speed!
