440c is much better than the typical 440 steel. Generally, if it's simply labeled 440, they mean 440a. 440a is similar to 3cr13 steel, the minimum requirement to be considered stainless steel. This would be like 10cr16, which I'm pretty sure doesn't exist. 1.1% carbon combined with 16% chromium. Plus the sheath is high quality as well. Locks in place very securely, plus has other features as well. It even has easily removable inserts to customize the fit to different size belts. Asides from being incredibly sharp and durable, having serrations on one side and a flat blade on the other makes this incredibly versatile. The size isn't very intimidating, and the two edges would slow down response time when defending one's self. For defense purposes, a knife with sharpened edges on both sides or single sided blade where it's obvious where the sharpened edge is, would work well for that, but this is designed to be a tool, not a weapon.

The knife feels good, but the sheath was dirty and loose. No problems with the blade thought. Very nimble and has a good feel.

This is an amazing knife at any price.

Heavier than expected. I may skeletontize the handle under the scales to make it less handle-heavy. Will need a good sharpening, and I will probably remove the black stonewash and mirror polish the entire thing. Good point, and EVEN grind all the way to the tip! This inspired the 5 stars. The sheath will be replaced, but the one it comes with has good retention. Im going to repurpose the clip as well. Needs work, but I am happy for the project.

The value is through the roof.The sturdiness is outstanding.And the durability is just amazing!
