Yes,It sweeps..... (GOOD BROOM to have.)
Wooden broomstick of a larger diameter on one end, straw bristles on the other. If you have a willing participant on the wooden broomstick end,it will sweep a floor very well.If you have a yourger person in your household,or a "child side" of yourself, can be ridden around the house/yard and pretend it is a "horsey"... If you have a wicked person in your family,It can be ridden around town, or even "OZ" as daily transportation. ;) (GOOD BROOM to have.)

Great broom.
You just can’t find a good straw broom anymore. Found this one and decided to give it a try. It has been great. Works great. Well made. Much better than the nylon brooms everyone sells. Makes easy work of sweeping out my barn.

Sturdy and Heavy straw broom
I wanted a reminiscences of the past. My Mother would use no other type broom and I fortunately have her old broom after her departure. When I was a childe and my periodic designated chore was "Sweeping the floor" This broom is véry heavy I'm sure my senior hood has played a factor. So when I picked up the broom and started sweeping a flood of memories came back how dreadful it was to sweep the floor because the broom was very heavy. That is what this broom brought back for me, a horrible chore that I hated . An insert no fault of the broom. But it's a well made broom . It's heavy for me but well worth the money for a sturdy broom.

>> DOES THE JOB
DESCRIPTION> This is a "Janitor's Broom" meaning that it is a little larger than a typical household broom. Ordinary household brooms were designed 100 years ago for your 5' tall grandmother or great-grandmother. This is a "man's" (e.g., janitor's) broom, scaled up for a 6' tall man (or a tall strong woman, of course).> Specifically, it is 56" tall. The handle is 1+" in diameter. The bristle end is 11+" wide at the bottom. Note that, it really isn't as large as that may sound. If I hadn't actually measured, I would have guessed the handle to be 7/8 inch in diameter and the bristles to reach 10 inches; wide.> Wooden handle, natural bristles.> The broom I received had a natural-colored handle (not black), with white (not black) stitching.> Greenish tinge to the bristles–probably an anti-fungal treatmentEVALUATION> Well constructed, but designed to be functional, not “pretty”.> Works great. It does what a broom is supposed to do.> Easier on the hands (except maybe for individuals with child-size hands) for heavy sweeping, for example, of a garage, patio, or otherwise a large area, than a standard household broom.> A little heavier and less maneuverable than a standard household broom, but the longer handle has better leverage -- which means that the actual sweeping motion is less strain (at least for individuals over, say 5 1/2' tall).> Works fine for household sweeping, but I still choose my much smaller, lighter, metal-handle synthetic-bristle broom (with a long-handled dust pan) to sweep up small areas.> Click on “Stoney” just below the product title to see my other reviews. How can a broom get a 5-star rating?
Well it can if it’s THIS broom. We bought 2 and just love them! They arrived in quality, long, thin boxes. So yes, the wooden handle is all one piece. The handle is a heavier wood than a lot of store brooms too so you feel like it’ll really hold up. The straw bottoms are long, bendable and well made with ample straw for good dirt collection. It’s kind of amazing how nice these straw brooms are. But yeah —they’re really awesome!

A little more rigid than anticipated
I had a straw broom I really liked, and decided to get a new one. This looked like it was going to be the same, but the bristles are a little more rigid and don't sweep as well as I'd hope. I'm also constantly needing to remove things as it catches thing more than it sweeps them. The handle is also a little more awkward to hold.
