Alright, let's talk about a certified classic: the Wharfedale Diamond 9.1s. If you're building a system on a budget, or you just want a second pair of speakers that genuinely punch above their weight, these are the ticket. The Sound Profile: Refined for the Money For what you pay, the sound quality is genuinely brilliant. Wharfedale somehow built a speaker that is transparent and detailed in the crucial midrange. Voices and acoustic instruments come through with a surprising amount of clarity and warmth. Midrange: This is where they shine. They give you that real musicality that makes you want to sit and listen to an album. Treble: It's crisp without being harsh. The soft-dome tweeter is well-behaved, giving cymbals a nice shimmer without getting aggressive or tiring your ears out. Bass: Look, they're bookshelf speakers, they're not going to shake your foundations. The bass is tight and well-controlled (thanks to those dual front ports), not boomy. They excel in small-to-medium rooms. If you want chest-thumping low end, plan on adding a subwoofer. The Build Quality: Curved Cabinets, Proper Kit They look far more expensive than they are, thanks to the curved cabinets. That's not just a vanity thing; that design helps reduce internal standing waves, which keeps the sound cleaner. They feel heavy and solid, and you even get bi-wire terminals at the back, which is a nice feature for experimentation. Final Takeaway The Diamond 9.1s are a benchmark for a reason. They're a reliable, highly musical speaker that works perfectly with entry-level amplifiers. They're the kind of speaker you buy, pair with a decent amp, and then forget about for a decade because you're too busy enjoying your music. Just make sure you pair them with a quality amp, and they'll sing. ⭐️ Consensus Rating: A Budget Hi-Fi Icon

This review will have to be split into 2. Wharfedale 9.1 sound/overall build quality: The 9.1s are definitely worth the price, they have incredible detail and imaging, the voice do noticeable sit a little behind the highs (drums in my music), but couldn't tell until i compared with the jamo e610s but the e610s aren't as crisp on the highs, but the voice and bass sit a little more forfront in sound, so its not bad, it just depends what you're using them for, but the e610s are twice the price, but combined they make a very good pair, crisp detailed highs from the 9.1s and forefront mids/vocals from the jamos. But the jamos are bookshelf speakers, where as the 9.1s are studio monitor speakers, so different design/use kinda. That being said i couldnt tell when i just had the 9.1s, they have some amount of power in them! They really sing, they have very nice and clear bass, although not as strong as more expensive ones. I couldn't tell until i had a comparison tbh, you really feel the detail and power in these speakers, and can notice the 22khz top end. The current 9.1 build quality: Now thats out the way, the reason why i can'T recommend these is because they are made in China, they are not the original 9.1s. when they arrived one of the tweeters was dodgy, it would create a vibration noise on high frequencies, but i was actually half expecting them to be faulty because i was warned by a friend and i saw a review saying something about a loose connection inside, creating the vibration and he fixed it easily, but having no idea about speaker build's and having warranty left, i gave in and sent them back. Ive also seen countless reviews about people talking about how the driver has ripped, but i haven't pushed them hard enough for that.. BUT about audiovisual online, and they were actually amazing, these guys do customer service during a pandemic right, swift replys, no messing around, got my speaker fixed and got it back a few days ago, and they actually sound amazing, but theres no telling how long they'll last, i doubt they'll last a few years tbh, but theres no telling. So overall these speakers are incredible, if you can find some originals second hand don't be afraid, quality built speakers last as long as they're maintained and the quality of build. I recommend the 9.1s but i just cant recommend the Chinese built ones due to this, but if you just want new speakers at this price, then get them. Thanks :) Shri dnb

These were an addition to my marantz amp in the garage. The speakers were produced almost 20 years ago and the sound is clear and punchy. Great value for money and will last years like my old Wharefdales.

Fantastic value for money, build quality amazing, sound excellent 👌, try them on the wall but don't think much to the sound when they was on wall brackets but everyone is different it was like the bass had no were to go so it when back up and into the speaker and then the speaker didn't know what to do with it or how to deal with it, so I move them back onto units with some anti vibration stands much better, now just ordered some metal floor stands , but all in all absolutely excellent value for money well worth the price don't think you could find anything better for that sort of price 😀 would highly recommend them thinking of buying another pair, 5 star all the way
