A guide and resource for every woman
I really enjoyed the breakdown of this book and the seriousness it takes in the need for women’s health especially cardiovascular health. Covid left a lot of gaps and showed the world the issues we have in healthcare in general. I have heart disease that runs in my family so I wanted to find a good resource in my 30s to make sure I do all that I can for a healthy heart. This book is easily organized into 3 parts. The first part is made up of 5 chapters that discuss heart disease in general and for women as well as how to notice clues or possibilities of heart disease in your own body. The second part was great in that the steps to get a healthier heart are within the acronym S.T.E.P.S, making it easy to remember. There are about 6 chapters, each focusing on the 6 weeks and the steps needed to reach your goal of a healthy heart. These steps go from food in your house and what to eat, moving your body, getting support or a partner to become healthier, things to change in your life like stress and sleep, and how to permanently keep this lifestyle. These changes are life-changing and thus need to be a lifestyle, not a fad. The last part is full of resources to help support like menu ideas, portion guidelines, no gym exercises, and medicines that may help before or after a heart attack. The end also had a great Q&A section that was full of helpful situations or worries for women and heart disease. I really loved this book and I plan on starting the S.T.E.P.S. needed to ensure I do my best for a healthy and happy life and heart. As the authors say, it is never too late to start!

Awareness is the key
This book is a guideline for you to improve the way you’re living by having healthier habits and by doing this you will prevent having a heart disease which is the number one cause of women’s death. Heart smarter for women will help you understand why it is so important to eat healthier, exercising and having a good relationship with your doctor so you can address your risk factors for heart disease and improve the quality of your daily living. Awareness, simple lifestyle changes and forming a true partnership with your doctor are the key elements of heart health. The book is a guideline to understand heart problems. It begins with an explanation and metrics of heart diseases in women so you can internalize in the topic, then you see some differences between having a healthy heart and having an unhealthy heart and then you would understand by some questions how close you are to have a heart disease, in the results you would find answers to take action. There are really good books about this subject, but truly, this one could sabe your life by clear, simple instructions and a plan that has been tested and proven as a highly successful one. Eat healthy, move your body and partner with doctor, family and friends, sleep more, stress less those are the keys of a healthy heart.

Good Information for Healthy Living
While this guide book looks specifically at heart disease and its risk factors and presentation in women, overall, the advice the author sets forward can really be used for living a healthy lifestyle in general. A lot of the health advice revolves around very typical, but applicable, concepts such as improving dietary habits, increasing basic exercise, and removing stressors where possible. The information was good, but I was interested in learning more about some of the medical issues balancing comorbidities, rather than a blanket move to cover them all with the same swatch. The ways in which diabetes and heart disease overlap is one piece of the puzzle; however, the ways T1 v T2 impacts the equation could have been covered a little more. Overall, would recommend for anyone interested in healthier living or heart disease.
