24 squishy bricks of Playfoam to bash, stretch and flatten - and it never dries out...
This listing's heading suggests there are 32 playfoam bricks in this Mega Rainbow Pack from Learning Resources - but it's actually 24 as the picture of the box, complete with top carrying handle, suggests. This is interesting stuff. In various colours, it looks like it contains tiny round beads. There are 3 different variations of Playfoam here - 8 x Classic, 10 x Sparkle and 6 x Glow in the Dark. Young children seem to love this - it's suitable for ages 3+. The USP is that, unlike other similar modelling materials, Playfoam doesn't dry out so it can be used over and over again. You may think Playfoam is not as versatile or adaptable as, say, Play-Doh as it's not possible to get the same level of detail - but this is probably more important to you if you're an adult playing alongside than if you're a child to whom the basic shapes and colours are likely to be all that matters, especially in the case of very young children. In a way this appreciation of simple shape and colour is what we lose as adults and what many of the greatest C20th artists - like Picasso - had to work for decades to get back to.The really big thing here is the squishy texture - which, again, children seem to really enjoy bashing around, stretching and flattening. Playfoam encourages a child's imagination and lets them create. So this is a perfect toy to stimulate young minds - and because it never dries out, it should stay the course and work out pretty good value in the long run.

Mess free and doesn't dry out! A parent's dream
If you’re like me and regrated the play dough days, then anything like this is enough to send shivers down your spine. Unfortunately, the children don’t agree and love to try out anything remotely slime-like. I was intrigued to see if they could get the same satisfaction out of playfoam and if I could suffer less mess. Here’s what I thought of it.One of the major benefits of choosing playfoam is that it doesn’t dry it. This immediately appeals to me because I have lost count of all the other messy toys, we’ve had that haven’t latest beyond the first day because someone forgot to put a lid on. This makes it good value from the get-go.You may be wondering, like me, how playfoam is different, or better, than say slime or playdough – well, and this is the best bit (for me) it only sticks to itself! It doesn’t get stuck in hair, carpets, or furniture. It is also non-toxic, so safe to play with for younger children. This is a bumper set – you get so much included and nice extras like glitter and a glow in the dark playfoam. The creativity is on par with other products in this category, but as mentioned previously, it addresses all the negatives associated with those and is mess-free.The only downside is that you'll need to ensure your children are older than 3 and reliably won't put this in their mouths - there is a choking risk. Supervision is a must for younger children.Overall, this is an excellent product that children will love, and adults will happily tolerate. 100% recommended.

24 Bricks of Long Lasting Playfoam. Here's Its Benefits Over Similar Products:
24 bricks of play foam, not 32 as currently stated in the description. The kids love playfoam, its neater than kinetic sand and keeps together in a mass unless moulded or manipulated. Which means less mess indoor and less of a clear up!This set is made up of only the 24 bricks in a set of open trays. To enhance the play we used a set of Playduh moulds and utensils so that we could shape, cut and taper it which makes it more like a dough. The benefit of play foam is that it's not sticky, like dough, it's not grainy like kinetic sand, it's not wet like slime. It's dry polystyrene-like foam which stays together in a gel-substnace.We havent let the little use this on our very pale carpets as I do fear it could stain because the colour is quite pigmented. She has been playing with it just fine on our unsealed stone floors and wooden tables.5 stars

Very crumbly, sticky and expensive for what it is
I thought this playfoam would be an ideal activity for my nearly 3 year old, but I was sorely disappointed. This playfoam is sticky! Like, it's ok in your hands, but getting it out of the box requied me to use my nails and I had residue of the substance used to hold the foam balls together stuck until I washed my hands. The foam balls making up the bulk of the foam are larger than I was expecting, and, as such it seems to come apart quite a bit and doesn't mould very well. Expect to be picking up gloopy polystyrene balls for weeks if you give this to a child. To add further to the disappointment, the set's 'glitter' foam is the same a regular foam with a few chunks of glitter thrown in for good measure. It actually just looked like someone has seasoned the foam with glitter in a way you might use salt or pepper. The glow in the dark sets... well I couldn't work out which ones these were. I exposed them all to bright lights and then hid them in a dark place and none of them glowed.... so either my box was missing them or the glow is non-functioning.You too can experience all of this disappointment for a not-cheap £36.95. This set overpromises and under delivers at an overpriced cost!

Better than Play Doh
My kids really love their Play Doh. Really, really. We must have 30 cans of it right now, half of which I am going to toss since I found this PlayFoam, because they're dried out. This claims not to do that, and so far it HAS bested Play Doh in that area. We left some out overnight and it's still malleable and unchanged from when it was opened. That in itself is a win.My 2 and 5 year old preferred the foam, but my 8 year old who likes to do more shape cutting and actual modeling said the foam isn't as good as dough or clay in that respect. He still enjoyed it but didn't play with it as long as my other two. There are 24 compartments with foam, and each compartment is roughly the size of one regular can of Play Doh, so I think this is a good bargain. There was a strong smell of Styrofoam at first but it has dissipated after an hour or so of handling.I personally like that this doesn't get stuck under my nails or stick to my table like dough does! Overall preferable to dough, and especially better than slime!

So cool
The media could not be loaded. Playfoam is a MUST HAVE for kids. I got this for my 8 yr old and she absolutely loved it. It comes in all kinds of colors, it’s fun to play with and easy to clean up. My kids had so much fun playing with this foam and it’s very pretty. We even made giant balls mixed with different colors and it looked so cool. My only issue is the price. It’s a little costly for something that doesn’t last more than a month. My kids got to play with it about 5 or 6 times before it dried out. I can’t say if that was because we didn’t properly store it or if the playfoam just loses its integrity after so long. Either way it’s a pretty good buy.

Fun at first but then disappointing.
I was a little concerned at first as these look like a LOT of Styrofoam balls all stuck together. I was concerned that they would make quite a mess. Looks are deceiving, though. These actually stick together rather nicely and absolutely do not make a mess! I had my two grandsons (one age five; the other just a month shy of age three) play with these. At first, they were both very excited to be playing with something new! They were quick to begin pulling the Playfoam apart and shaping it into random objects. After about 10 minutes, though, the five-year-old tired of playing with this and moved onto some of his other toys. Once he was done, the younger grandson quit playing as well. Not quite what I was hoping for. Each color of the Playfoam is in a separate compartment in the container. It was a little difficult to extract the Playfoam from the compartments. A little persistence, though, and I was able to get them out. I think it would probably be best to store the Playfoam in separate containers to make it easier. In general, Playfoam was a little disappointing. The “fun factor” for my two grandsons just wasn’t there. Maybe your kids/grandkids would enjoy it more, but this is likely something that will sit on the shelf more than it gets played with.Overall, I would rate this as three stars and would not recommend this to a friend.I hope you find this information helpful.
