Can I use it in a basketball math?

I don't play basketball but would assume it would work the same way it does for tennis. Holds my wrist in place -not too tight but stabilizing.

My wrist circumference is 7", the guide says i should be a large, but that's by a 1/4". i don't want the large to be too big. what do you guys think?

I have a small wrist but I do not see how it could be too large. The support fits rather tightly and does a great job.
