How do I size my dog to be sure of a good fit?

I wish the sizing went more by the dogs ears. I ended up getting both a medium and large for my springer. Large seems better ear coverage and I had to sew the straps. Medium straps fit better but not enough comfort coverage I feel for her springer ears but definitely still works. Just looks less comfy. So I have used both successfully and gives us a spare pair if one is in the car during strong storms.

Does anyone have a long ear dog like cocker spaniel?

I used these ear muffs in a long eared Bernadoodle and his ears fit inside the muffs perfectly. No problems when placed on his ears for July 4th fireworks. These are large ear muffs.
