The display on my unit is flashing 5 times and then repeats. i am having trouble communicating with the unit via dmx. is this an indicator of fault?

I am not sure since I have never had that display on my units. I have 2 of them and I run then trough my dmx controller. Generally they pair instantly.

Will it get hot during use?

Thanks for your question With a cooling fan under the light, it does not heat up. Allows the light to cool down for 10-15 minutes after 6-8 hours of use, extending the life of the light best wishes

Do you know the profile for an ETC Element?

No but i can see if i can get it, on the air stream you can make it, i have for avolites quartz and d4, but i can check whit the manufactur
