Does the Google maps feature require iFit?

Can not use Google maps on this bike. The display is pretty useless. In order to use it, you must subscribe to iFIT, which is horrible. The display starts the ride way before you are peddling and the simulated ride ends way before you have reach your time that you want to workout.
