Great solution for dandruff, and works quick. It has a very thick, almost gasoline-like scent that some people can't handle (definitely takes some getting used to). Make sure to let it sit on your scalp after rubbing it in. To mask the scent I usually do another round of a better smelling shampoo after. Make sure to wash it out of your hair thoroughly, as well as washing it off your body. If you're the type that does body first then shampoo, this stuff can get left on your skin as it washes down your body. I haven't found any real side effects from this, but if you end up tasting your skin afterwards, you end up with a confusing, foul aftertaste. I'd recommend bending to have it wash straight out, or thoroughly soaping yourself after application.

I used MG217 original formulation for over 10 years. They then changed the packaging and dispensing method for a reformulation that they said had the same amount of coal tar and the same effectiveness. I first used the new product in December 2023. It was apparent right away that it was not the same and did not work as well anymore. Toward the end of 2024, after reading another Amazon review, I ordered a bottle of coal tar to mix with the new MG217. This improved the results but it was a somewhat messy and more expensive solution. Continuing my search I recently found True+Real Coal Tar Therapeutic shampoo. My experience so far is that it works at least as well as the original MG217. I shampoo every other day and have no itching or other symptoms at all.

Good replacement for Neutrogena, cheaper too. Pleasant scent. Lathers nicely, no dry scalp, and helps with dander issues. Noticed it helps with eczema on hands.

This product absolutely resolved my scalp psoriasis within a 2 week period. I have been struggling with resistant psoriasis for several years and prescription medications have not helped. Definitely recommend. There is a strong smell but well worth the results. Product cleans hair wonderfully.

The product is amazing at a fraction of the price of big box brands. I also think it's great it's run by women. I will be a lifetime customer to support these women. The smell isn't too bad for coal tar but people need to realize coal is not a pretty smell at all but the product works incredibly well for psoriasis. You can honestly compare this to Nutrogenas T gel which has been discontinued. THANK YOU T + R. YOU ARE AMAZING.

It works. It really does. BUT....with a price. It says it right in the title, but you might think the scent is mild. Nah. It is seriously strong. I'm an idiot for not researching a little more. It has a very strong scent that didn't go away fully until I had washed my hair around five times over five days. It worked really well, but the scent gave me a massive headache, and my patients could smell it at work the next day so I felt like I had to explain why I smell like straight coal tar.
