I highly recommend this book. The text is well presented and very nicely scaped. The book, while a paper back, is good quality -- it TRAVELS WELL -- and should last several readings. If you are looking for a book suitable for study or meditation, this is the one to get.

If you want to be inspired in appreciating the gift of your life, the Love that surrounds us, and living a life worth living - read this.

Very worthwhile read!

THIS BOOK IS NOT A DIALOGUE IN THE MODERN SENSE, WHERE TWO PEOPLE SEEK A COMMON GROUND BY BEING NICE TO ONE ANOTHER. RATHER, IT IS FILLED WITH DICTATION GIVEN TO ST. CATHERINE BY OUR DEAR LORD JESUS CHRIST, AS THE SECOND PERSON OF THE EVER BLESSED TRINITY, WHILE SHE WAS IN ECSTASY. THERE IS A KIND OF ECSTASY WHERE THE PERSON IS ABLE TO BOTH HEAR, AND OFTEN SEE, THE ONE SPEAKING TO THEM, AND IS STILL ABLE TO DICTATE TO OTHERS WHAT THY HEAR. THIS IS WHAT ST. CATHERINE DID. SHE WOULD DICTATE TO SEVERAL SCRIBES, EACH ONE IN SUCCESSION.FILLED WITH THE 'COMMON SENSE' OF HEAVEN, THIS BOOKLET IS A BLUEPRINT FOR THE SPIRITUAL LIFE, A 'HOW TO GO TO HEAVEN' INSTRUCTION BOOK! Sooo much to like and learn from the dialogue of this truly amazing saint! Preface with historical background is fascinating!

The content is wonderful--of course, Catherine is a great Saint and Doctor of the Church! However, I found the translation to be a bit clunky (lots of turn-of-the-19th-century Thees and Thous), making it a much denser read than it necessarily has to be. I would recommend the Classics of Western Spiritual edition rather than the Tan edition.
