Daughter's favorite book to play with - This book saved me. We went on a very very long flight from southern Africa to the US and back and I bought this book hoping it would help keep my 2-year old entertained. (In addition to lots of snacks and few movies). It did the trick! She loves opening the flaps and finding her favorite characters. It's really very cute and has tons of fun flaps and pictures- it also seems pretty educational as each page teaches a different skill: shapes, numbers, letters, etc. She loves it! Review: Fantastic for Learning - Currently using this book for a 1 1/2 year old to teach her the alphabet. She loves the flaps and can point and say the letter. So this is great for not only learning how to say the letters but to recognize them. Aside from that, the book arrived in terrific condition. It is colorful and has many other words and features to entertain a child as they grow.

Perfect gift for a 2 year-old
Bought this as a gift when I visited my 2 year-old nephew who loves Elmo. Over the course of two weeks, he progressively explored more of the flaps and revisited some favorites. I had to show him the ABC flaps and they soon became his absolute favorite part, with him commanding me to ‘do ABC’! He knew about 18 of the corresponding images (‘a is for Apple’) and by the time I left, he knew the rest and was very pleased with himself. It was a lot of fun to read this with him and a offers a lot of new words and concepts for toddlers to explore.

This One's a WInner!
This is a great book for kids just starting to talk. Its very durable for little hands and the flaps aren't flimsy like paper. The best part about this book is the letter page, my daughter is already starting to pick up which letters are for which words. I was writing something, and she pointed to the s and said "socks!". The thing i DON'T like about this book which isn't a big deal is the number page, nothing is in order so you don't know when you are going to find one or twelve unless you have the flaps memorized. Overall it is a great buy, and I am very happy we decided to go with this one for my little girls b-day.

Better suited for Pre-school aged kids
Elmo's Big Lift-And-look Book (Sesame Street) (Great Big Board Book) My son was given the other Sesame street lift the flaps book (I've attached a link to it) with one of the pages all torn up. Despite this, he loves it, It's been his favorite book since he was about 15 months old, he's now almost 19 months. So instead of buying a new version of that book, I decided to try this newer book. This one has thinner pages that are somewhat flimsy for a lift the flap book. The flaps themselves are fine, but the actual pages just aren't thick enough. With the older book he could stand on top of it and it wouldn't make a dent. This one, however, he easily bent one of the pages in half. I wonder why quality of books is progressively worsening. I'm actually happier when I can find books used because they were made to a higher standard. I am pleased with the content of this book it has a lot more vocabulary, however, some of the drawings are not up to par, for example, one page has an image of Grover riding a bike with both pedals down... something a young kid won't pick up on, but c'mon! Who is drawing these things? I'll compare the books for you: Page 1: Elmo's Favorite Places (EFP): Counting on a farm. count 1-12, animals, food, etc. (I like that it shows a more natural setting instead of the busy city) Elmos's Big Lift the Flap Book (EBLFB): Counting on Sesame Street. count 1-10, mostly sesame street characters and foods. (not healthy foods, and a busy city... not the greatest image) Page 2: EFP: The Aquarium. animals and fish peek-a-boo essentially, My son skips this page. But the animals shown are out of the ordinary and really interesting to me... hopefully to him soon. EBLFB: Alphabet. BIG drawing of Elmo with his stack of alphabet blocks, letters on the blocks, pictures and words inside the flap. By far my son's favorite page. Page 3: EFP: Alphabet. Classroom scene with alphabet flaps around the image of Elmo and his friends at school. Also has some vocab of things inside a classroom. EBLFB: Shapes. (Mine is missing all these flaps) Elmo and friends at the park scene. 7 basic shapes: circle/sun, square/easle, rectangle/truck, triangle/boat, parallelogram/kite, oval/tree knot, octagon/stop sign, with flaps showing a bold color and words inside. Page 4: EFP: Shapes. Busy playground scene with 9 basic shapes triangle/roof, circle/window, square/window, rectangle/truck, oval/trash can lid, octagon/stop sign, rhombus/kite, pentagon/ice cream stand, star/balloon. EBLFP: Opposites. Playground scene with big/little, up/down, full/empty, dry/wet, closed/open, short/long, in/out, low/high flaps Page 5: EFP: Random object in Elmo's room. Most objects are hidden, i.e. a train in a tunnel comes out when you lift the flap. Added benefit to this page is a key at the top with other things to search for under the flaps, almost like a memory game. I like this, my son, not yet... EBLFB: Random object in a classroom. Help Elmo fid his teddy bear. Look under and in things in the room for the teddy bear that is actually out in plain sight. Both books are great for lift the flap. The older book is much more simple, not as detailed drawings, not even half as many vocabulary words so it's definitely aimed at a younger group. The newer "Favorite Place" book is more suited to the preschool ages. Educationally, this book far surpasses the older lift the flap book and is categorized better. So depending on the age range you are shopping for, either book has it's benefits. For us, right now the lifting of flaps is really the only interesting thing about the book, so sturdiness is what we are going for. next year I'm sure the other book will get much more use.

Perfect for toddlers
My toddler loves this book. She is learning new vocabulary words in addition to just being entertained with the pictures. The pictures are large and colorful. Each page has a differ scene. For example, the first two pages has a farm scene. The book is as large as the Elmo Potty Book but not as sturdy. I was hoping it would be more sturdy but it has helped up fine. One of the flaps did start to rip but that's to be expected.

My two year old daughter absolutely loves this book. The flaps are cardboard, not paper, so it can handle a toddler opening and closing them over and over and over, all on their own. Lots of bright colourful pictures too, aimed at this age group definitely.....with a few visual gags thrown in , when you open the flaps, make this a winner at bedtime with her.
