I highly recommend this book.
This is a wonderful book! I’m completing this book with my 4 year old even though it’s recommended for 5 year olds. I don’t see the sense in waiting that long. However, I do move much slower than recommended. I honestly think I would have gone slower even at 5 years old. We spend about 2-3 days on each set of site words. I have a dry erase board that magnetically stays on my fridge. I put the words on there. He reads them in the morning and night. The afternoon is when he reads from the book. We don’t move on to the story until he knows the words. I spend two days on the part two section, but we still stay on the book schedule. We do this by reading two stories a day so he gets two days of reading the same two stories. Any words that need extra practice go on the fridge. I have the rule that if you get it right the first time of the day then you get to erase it off the fridge. If you get it wrong even once that day then it stays. I haven’t reached part three yet. For part three, I think I will either do one lesson a day with one Bob book or two lessons a day repeating the next day. A top is actually the old spinning top toy. I originally thought it was referring to a top hat. I hope this helps.

Helped my child learn to read
This book alone helped my son learned to read when nothing else could. It’s helped him become a confident reader. There are phonics and letter sounds in the back of the book, which is where we had to begin. If you need to teach a child to read, or need to help them become more confident, this is the book.

Awesome mileage out of his book
This book has been handed down to our next reader and I applaud the online instructions for parents for when any of the sight words become difficult. I have had to go back a few times to earlier lessons with my little ones to where they can read with confidence and this has helped us dodge every bullet of fear and anxiety and frustration as we reach those difficult levels again. It helps me as a parent be patient with my child and to literally watch the difference of one day having anxiety about reading to literally wanting to read more than one lesson the next day. It may be the longest book in kindergarten, but this is very easy for me to wedge into first grade lessons if they are still plowing through the phonics section while reading chapters from books in their current curriculum level. This book and technique definitely produces strong reading ability even before they dive into phonics which only strengthens their reading skill.

Great for Learning to Read!
I have been a tutor for children with dyslexia and I have used various resources for homeschooling my own children who are not dyslexic. This book has become my favorite way to teach reading for a non-dyslexic child who does not need a very multi-sensory approach. One thing I love is that the font is nice and large! Some books I have used have had tiny font and the page was overwhelming to the child. The phonics section is in the back and the sight words and stories are in the front. I prefer to teach phonics first so we started in the back of the book. Once my child seemed ready we started going through the front section as well. (note: there is an Easy Peasy app so that you can do the words and stories that way if you want too. The app was a fun way for my daughter to get into this at first and find it fun). The stories are simple and old fashioned but promote good values and they are accompanied by a little picture. The book is so easy to use , we just do a page or two a day depending on how hard it is for my child. If she struggled with it we will revisit that page again the next day, or I will have her read the sentence a second time on the same day.For my last child, I am happy to have found a product that I like so much for teaching reading and I wanted to share!

Great Resource
Well put together product. Love the large print and the fact that my child can read the lessons offline.I did teach my daughter Phonics first with a different program but she had no problem decoding the words in each primer Lesson. We reviewed the primer words using the EP Mcguffey app and them read the stories at night for bedtime. Wonderful book for reading practice! We are working our way through the first reader now and will likely go through the phonics section as a review.

Great Product for Beginning Reader
This product came exactly as featured in the images. It has been a perfect template for my son who is learning to read. I love the way that it breaks down each lesson for them, keeping content short but repeated throughout the day. Seeing great progress in a month already.
