Fast and reliable at a great price. Get one!
Nice capacity drive at a great price. Seems to be faster than the now really old G-RAID Studio Lightning that it is replacing. I needed a new drive quick (old drive case was failing) and this was a great choice for me. I received it in one day at a great price. Using it for storage and working with terabytes of photos, videos and graphic files connected to my Mac. I have not run any speed tests, but it seems plenty quick to me. It has also been reliable for me, since I bought this some time ago and am now writing a review. I would not use this drive for app caching, since 2-4 TB solid state drives are fairly inexpensive now and would work a lot better for that purpose. The only issue I ran across (which has been mentioned in other reviews) is the aggressive drive sleeping. It was annoying (since it was sleeping after only a few minutes of inactivity). But, changing the system settings for the drive have helped. As well as taking it off of a brand new USB 4.0 hub and plugging it directly into my Mac. There is no G-Tech software for this drive. It is only plug and play. So far I have no complaints. It has been fast and reliable. Hopefully it will last as long as the last G-Tech drive it replaces. If you need a large drive for a great price, this one is great.

Horrible - Do NOT buy
I rarely write product reviews. But this product is so bad I feel compelled to warn buyers. Beware of this product. It has been nothing but problems. I do not know how it interacts with windows, but it does NOT work well with Mac at all. Bottom line: Do not buy this SanDisk. Go for the WD My Desk.I have had it for a year, and it constantly disconnects for no reason. Randomly, just disappears. Restart it, it usually shows up again. I store all our photos on this. I have been constantly having to restore the Photos library after it disconnects. Well, that is until two days ago, when the Photos library just disappeared. Gone. 20,000 photos gone. I was able to find the file in Time Machine and restore it to this drive. Seemed like it was all fixed. And then...poof. This entire drive is now empty. It cant be repaired in disk utility. Thankfully I was able to pull the old file from time machine and add to another external drive. Hopefully I have no more issues. But i will not use this drive ever again.I have been using WD My Desk external drives for 15 years. I have NEVER had an issue with them, at all. I have purchased 7 over the years as I have needed more and more storage. Every one has worked perfectly. I decided to try this SanDisk because it is the "professional" model. What a joke. It's a piece of garbage. If you need an external drive for Mac, get a WD My Desk. Do NOT buy this SanDisk

reliable; sturdy case; good performance; quiet, cool, and a good value
I've been using two of these for more than a month, and so far I haven't had any problems at all. I'm using them for backups, so they don't get stressed very much, but they stay cool and quiet, unlike some other drives I've had. The enclosure seems rugged, and even looks a bit stylish. The performance is more than adequate for what I'm doing -- not as good as a SSD, of course, but better than an ordinary "USB-powered" drives.Note that this drive is much less "portable" than some of its peers: it has an external power supply (so you need to carry that with you, *and* have a place to plug it in, if you want to use it away from your office), and the enclosure is larger and heavier than those drives, and, although the enclosure seems very robust, it might not be as drop-resistant because it isn't padded like some of them are. This is fine with me, because my plan is to leave this on my desk and use it for backups when my computer is docked.

SanDisk Professional 22TB G-Drive Enterprise-Class External Desktop Hard Drive
This review is on the SanDisk Professional 22TB G-Drive Enterprise-Class External Desktop Hard Drive. Needing more capacity, I returned the 12TB (quiet and vibration free) version and went with the 22TB version from Amazon Warehouse at a discount. After powering up the 22TB IDE drive for the first time, I noticed a modest amount of vibration and noise, even after cycling the drive on and off a number of times. So...in developing A.A. (Amazon Attitude) after having to return a number of recent purchases, I started the online return process. What is odd, is that by the time I finished the online return process, the drive had quieted down to no vibration and no noise other than initial booting up. File copying has been consistent at 240 - 250 MB/s from my SSD drive computer, and after a few hours of idling and file copying, the drive still remains "whisper quiet." I've seen the reviews claiming that the 22 TB drive only has 20 TB available, but after formatting the drive to NTFS Basic GPT drive for WIN 10 Pro, I have a full 22 TB (see attachments). I've been using only SSD drives for about 5 yrs., so I don't know if the new IDE drives need a 10 - 15 minute "break in period" to finally calm down. Speeds are as advertised using AAOMEI Partitioning Assistant Pro.Hope this helpsPost Script next day: Unlike the 12 TB version, this 22 TB version does not go dormant after 15 minutes of no activity. I was OK either way, but going dormant may have led to extended disk life. Even while dormant, the drive was still visible and immediately "woke up" when needed. Still showing 22 TG actual disk space...Post Script 5-18-2023 - Looks like this drive also goes dormant after a period of time (in excess of an hour) with no activity, but remains in the WIN 10 Devices & Drives (My Computer). To me, this is good, and will extend the life of the drive.
