Lots of visibility for the price. Great for commuters.
I use these on my daily commuter bike, mostly in the winter in both city traffic and bike trails. I feel that I am very well lit in both the front and the back. The Metro 360 has several modes that are all very bright. I am particularly fond of the always-on strobe mode, which strobes from low to high. I feel that this gives me the visibility of a strobe without the nausea of a strobe. The Metro 360 is easily removable and clamps onto the handlebars. I have had to adjust it when going over rough terrain, but probably could have tightened it down better. The unit comes with a couple of inserts for different sized bars, and I was able to get a good fit on my (smaller than usual) drop bars. I do like to leave it a little loose though so that I can point it down on the bike trail so I don't blind other cyclists, but move it up on the road for better visibility. Operation is very simple: There is a glow-in-the-dark button that turns the unit on/off and switches between modes. It remembers your last mode, so I rarely find myself changing out of the always-on strobe. The battery life is very good. I usually just charge it up on the weekends, which will get me the 1-hour per day, 5 days per week use that I need easily. It charges with a mini (not micro like your phone!) usb cable, and charge time is about two hours. The Hotshow 2W is really great. It comes with a clamp that goes around your seat post which it attaches to easily. It can be removed and put back on in a few seconds, so it is easy to take with you if you are not comfortable locking it up with the bike. It has two buttons- one for mode, and one for brightness. I find that I use the random strobe at full brightness the most often. The Hotshot charges using the same mini USB cable as the Metro 360, but the kit only comes with one of them. The battery life is very good- I have never run it down, but use it daily and only charge on the weekends. Charge time is about an hour. I find that I use this more often than the Metro 360 as it provides a lot of added visibility even during the day. Overall, this is a very good kit. I did a lot of research before buying something that met a good fit of quality, durability, brightness, and price. It was the review on the The Sweethome (I'm sure a lot of you are here after reading that article as well) that led me to this unit. I am very happy with my purchase.

Super bright headlight taillight combo, especially for the price!
Having a flashing headlight on your bike is nothing short of amazing in terms of the road manners of most people driving cars and my visibility on a bike. After I fully charged the duo, I mounted them and went for a ride. While doing barely 1 mph on my bike and fiddling with my pedals to make sure I was ready for another sprint, I arrived at a T junction where a girl stopped her car at the junction; She was waiting for me to pass by. It was only when I looked up and realized that she was still watching and waiting well over 15 seconds for someone who was 30 ft away from her, and barely moving, did I realize the effectiveness of the "day lightening" mode. And I called out to say, "go ahead." After I got going, I caught up with her fairly quickly as this was winding, coastal road with a 25 mph limit and humpback whales breaching the azure waters not more than 100 yards off the coast. Therefore she wasn't flying down the road and I got up to speed in no time. I got to her bumper and was to her right, after a block of riding in that area and realizing her unwillingness (or inability to see me) to give me space, I rode out towards the center of the road so that she would see me - sure enough, it worked and she pulled to the left, giving me a wide berth and let me pass unhindered - to continue trying to beat my personal record for another segment on my Strava App. I think this is a fantastic purchase! The brightness is more than enough and maybe when I take my cross bike off road, I may need another light, in which case I might upgrade to the metro 500 or an expillion or just get another metro 360...TBD. Quick thoughts on products: 1. I charged both lights using an iPhone brick - the computer is too slow. 2. The lights were shipped with charge but the instructions indicated that they must be fully charged before use, I did so. 3. I did the metro first and played around with it while the hotshot was getting charged. The "walking" mode is a really low output but perfectly suited for a walking pace. The other modes are well thought out. 4. My day time go to mode is the day lightening and dusk/dark mode is the one with a triple flash and a steady output at the same time. 5. I realized very quickly that I'd made a mistake with the hotshot as I pulled it out of the charged by the plug but I forgot to disconnect the cable from the plug. The hotshot was discharged while being left as such and had to be fully charged again. So, remember to disconnect the lights from the USB cords after charging or they will discharge. 6. The Hotshot is supremely bright as well and infinitely adjustable to your specific flashing needs! Just make sure you've aimed it correctly and tightened the bolts up and you're good to go! One more thing: If you put your bare palm in front of the light, you WILL feel the heat. These CREE LED's are pretty amazing. (Don't expect them to start a fire for you though) *****4 Year Update***** Still going strong! I use these lights during the daytime when there's a lot of traffic as well as at dusk when riding back home from work. The charge holds well on the headlight whereas the rear (arguably more important than the front) loses its charge after 3 days. Considering I bought these lights in 2013 and it's 2017 - I'd say their output and slight loss in ability to hold charge absolutely okay!

WARNING: in 2019 these lights are still USB 2.0 ports for no reason. Don't get these, or if you do save another cord because you probably won't be able to charge them if you don't. This is ridiculous.

I needed some better lights for my and my wifes bikes and having previously had used battery based lights I decided to try USB rechargeable ones. These are not the cheapest but I wanted bright lights and they are certainly that ! What is great i that they are not bulky either so we like them. I have not used them on the bike much yet due to the weather but looking for ward to doing so. I have used the front light as a basic flash light though and it is really good and bright. Not cheap lights but worth the money.
