I bought this for my wife who originally wanted a wall mounted knife holder that was severely limited in knife width and that needed to be mounted on a wall where we just do not have a space for it except in completely awkward places that require reaching around the sink area about 90 degrees to get it off the rack. That was completely unacceptable to me, and so I ordered this product. I believe it was the right choice. Unlike wall mounted ones, we can set this stand anywhere on counters in the kitchen. Also, both sides are magnetic and can hold any size knives, including large cleavers. Each side has sleaves where you can either insert the knives into the sleave or mount them on the outside, which is an interesting extra that I have noticed. I just received this item today, so I can't really comment more about it, but I believe that the unit will hold many knives if you can put them into the sleaves and outside the sleaves. That would mean about 20 knives, including cleavers and large cutting knives. I would have to get back with you to determine this. It is just my first guess on looking at it and playing with it. On second inspection, I see that I am right. The unit allows for 4 rows of knives and cleavers. There is the inside row and the outside row. They are both magnetic. Place the big cleaver on the outside row, and it sticks magnetically. The inside row is protected both by magnetism and confinement. In all, I was about right. You can store about 20 knives in this unit. The best part about it is that you can store it anywhere on your countertop.

I bought this for my son after he moved into his condo with not a ton of counterfeits or drawer space. This item is a game changer. It holds everyone of his knives and is absolutely beautiful sitting on his counter. I would highly recommend this functional, durable, high quality item to keep you knives organized and easy to reach while cooking.

My wife is a quite frankly terrified of knives and the original packaging for my chef knife has turned to dust. I'm sure this situation is fairly common and I can assure you guys out there, this is really nice solution. The magnets in the unit are just the right strength, where the knifes are held securely, but you don't need to apply an unsafe amount of force to get them back out. The plastic cover keeps the edges of your knives out safely out of reach and all around this thing just does what it is supposed to. The only minor gripe I have is that you have to be a little more careful when you put longer knifes onto the block as it's fairly easy to scratch the wood, but again, this is more user error than anything. I'd also prefer the softer wood construction than something was going to mangle my knifes anyways.

This is a really handsome product. And it looks so good filled with a good set of knives. It is handy and easy to use. The magnets securely hold the knives, but they are still easy to extract. It is quite tall and would probably not fit under a cabinet. So think about where this would go before purchasing. I have it on a peninsula so there are no overhanging cabinets. If I put it under the cabinets, I would not be able to lift out long knives without leaning it over. Still this is a small quibble for a terrific product.

My kitchen drawers needed some decluttering, and I noticed my knives not fitting well and getting banged up a bit. I saw versions of this type of holder but they didn't have the acrylic safety panel so I was afraid that someone might cut themselves by accident. When I saw this, I thought this is a good idea, but it might look really ugly - like the orthopedic sandal version of a high fashion shoe. Well....it's really great, it looks great, and frees up space in my drawer without taking up much room on the counter. I like that I can see the knife I want to use rather than rummaging through a drawer. I love that it has a holder for a cutting board, too. Even the OP in my house who always complains about the Amazon boxes showing up had to admit he thought it was really cool and wants one for the other house.

This knife block is lovely but it has a design flaw: the screws that hold it together, one is loose. Not totally happy with this purchase.

This is a great product. A few of my friends have picked up on it and perched it at themselves. The word is solid and the magnet is strong.
