High quality plugs that work well on Linn K400 cable; recommended.
Bought to go on the end of Linn K400 cable, these plugs provide a secure, high quality fitting; I'm very pleased with them. The only reason I can think of not to recommend this item is that you're probably going to need more than four plugs to terminate your cables and they are also available in packs of ten. Otherwise, it's all good news and I'm happy to recommend them.Linn K400 cable is heavy-duty stuff; I've often thought that the two 5m lengths I had would be the sort of thing you could anchor a ship with. Having recently moved house I no longer needed such long runs of cable and bought a shorter pair from eBay which needed plugs fitted to one end. I bought two packs of these to give me the eight plugs I needed; had I known that a ten-pack was also available I'd have bought that instead, but there you go. The plugs are high quality items, well made, well packaged and promptly delivered from the supplier. There's room in each plug for a short piece (half an inch or so) of bare wire which is then held in place by two grubber screws placed on opposite sides of the body of the plug, one placed near the base of the plug with the other closer to the top. Unscrew them to give sufficient clearance to insert your cable (Linn K400 is quite wide and I had to unscrew them almost completely to fit the cable in; I was careful not to completely unscrew them as I suspect they'd be difficult to find if they fell on the floor) then tighten the screws up. Then - this is important - once you've done the lot, go away and do something else for ten minutes. When you return, you'll be able to nip the screws up a little more. Then you can slip the red and black covers over the end of the appropriate bits of cable, screw them on and you're good to go. They slipped comfortably - not loose, not seriously tight, but a nice, appropriate fit - into the sockets on the back of my power amplifiers and I was a happy bunny.Since we're in the realms of hifi, I should say a word about how things sounded and that word would be 'better'. More subtle details, a greater clarity not just in the music but also in the atmosphere around the music, the sort of room it was recorded in, the subtle details in vocals. Of course, this could be due to many things in my system; the shorter cable runs for one, the fact that pulling wires in and out gives you a cleaner surface for electrical contacts, or it could just be psychological, the fact that I'd made a change and was expecting things to sound different. Whatever, the take-home message is this; using these won't make your hifi sound worse, and may well make it sound better.A comparison with Linn's own banana plus is revealing. These are a little bulkier in the body, which I suspect is because they've got those two screws to give a firm connection. But once on, they're attached every bit as firmly and prove every bit as good. It wouldn't surprise me if some companies got their own badge printed on these plugs and sold them as their own.In summary then, these plugs prove to be something of a bargain. Easy to use even on thick, high quality speaker cable and offering nothing but a potential improvement to your hifi, I'm happy both to use them and to recommend them. But if you need more than four plugs, remember that a ten-pack is also available.

Very impressive
Bought these four banana plugs to improve the ability to disconnect and reconnect the speaker cables to my Marantz music system. The plugs arrived in a preformed plastic packaging which kept each plug separate and free from in transit damage. The plugs are well made and connecting them via each plug's two micro screws was easy. Although you will require a small screwdriver (watch repairing type) Took me 40 minutes overall. The plugs fitted snugly without undue force into my Marantz music system. Some reviewers state that the plugs are too large, however I found them prefect for the Marantz music system. The plugs red or black plastic shielding cover screws into the actual banana plug and its quite secure for inserting and disconnecting. Overall I am glad I made this purchase at a very competive price. Using the plugs has not effected the sound in any way.

Very good plugs, excellent value
They are well made and easy to fit. There are double screws per plug and they are a good size, so not fiddly. I have bought four sets, some for home and some for the local music society. Some reviewers have found them difficult or impossible to plug in. Ye-ss, so did I, until I spotted the trick. They are very snug, but you don't actually need to force them ... if you compress the end springs with your finger-ends the first time, they go in, tightly but without forcing. You only have to do it the first time -- they go in straight away next time, but still with a good firm fit.I have not knocked any stars off for this, because (having found the trick) I have very good and inexpensive plugs that are easy to wire up securely and that fit firmly with a solid contact and with no subsequent difficulty. I'd rather have these than plugs that go loose, or alternatively, that cost a lot more!

Worth paying a little extra for good quality
Very easy to fit on to speaker cables. Small straight screwdriver required. Two little screws per plug. As others have mentioned, one can grip the bare wire end, the rear one can grip the insulated part of the wire for greater hold. Axial entry of wire into rear of plug body so no loose bits sticking out the side as in some other designs. Plastic cover screws onto metal body neatly and simply over the front, so you don't have to put the plug cover on the wire first. Top class design, great function, they look very good. Fit and forget!

Check the size!
Bought these to connect my amplifier to a pair of speakers but they proved useless because they are too big to slot into the sockets. I didn’t realise they came in different sizes. They look as though they would be quality products but they are no good for my equipment.

Brilliant and a bargain
After a few minutes of pulling my hair out I realised these have screw on coloured covers - for some reason I thought they were pull off. Once I had unscrewed the covers it revealed a gold plated plug with 2 screws to hold the speaker cable - much better than many other banana plugs which are held in with only 1 screw. They hold the cables tightly and the slots did not bend out of shape when I was tightening them.Fitting them into my amp was also easy. They fit in the sockets tightly but did not require a lot of effort to push them in, and they have not moved since despite me moving the amp about a few time.I would recommend them to general users - perhaps true audiophiles might notice a difference with more expensive soldered connectors but I doubt many would.
