Would this product fix cracks in cast iron downpipes? And how long would it last?

This product is very strong. I used it to build up a very badly worn bearing with low expectation of success, but it has worked out fine during the last 5 months of regular use. I also used it to plug a 15mm hole in a cast iron waste pipe tapering the sides of the hole so that there would be retention after sanding, having cleaned off the paint. Repainted after filing/sanding. You may wish to consider tapering the crack and then applying the epoxy putty, rather than trying to get it into a narrow space offered by a thin crack. If this is not posible, ensure that the outside surface around the crack has all paint removed before the putty is applied, but then it would be better not to sand totally flush with the pipe.

Would this be suitable to put over a rough patch inside washing machine?

It is good stuff and fairly easy to attach. Certainly haven’t used it inside my washing machine but it is waterproof and adheres to various types of metal. It’s not going to cost you a fortune so I think it’s worth an experiment. Good luck, hope it works. —- Mike

Yes it does and when the job is completed it is an absolute success!

Hello Statto, The answer to your question regarding The Rapid Steel Putty, Well I have been using the mentioned product for possibly Twenty years, I think it is excellent on a more industrial basis, eg, pipe work,radiators ,But I think that the texture of the Putty is too coarse for repairing delicate things like phones. I hope this information helps you make a decision.
