The main pieces are made of aluminum which does not rust. However, the chairs have bolts that connect back to seat & legs to seat as well as leg leveling screws that are all steel (leg levelers have plastic where it touches the floor). Since steel can rust, after assembling, I put vasoline on the exposed steel as well as removing the leg levelers applying vasoline to screw threads then re-inserting. I just checked the bolts to answer your question & these have been on (covered) front porch since Oct 1 with no sign of rust.
