Does it dig up dock roots?

I have dug up Soft Berry Roots. Mega Dandilion roots 6 feet tall. Some really heavy digging. Small young tree roots. I have actually over stretched the bottom toothed blade which snapped off but the large blade has done some amazing work with its teeth working away you can manouver it to use the saw edge to cut through all sorts vegitation. Very happy with it.

Does the blade stay sharp?

I have had the spades for over three years and it remains sharp. If cutting through a lot of roots you might want to use a sharpening stone. Our soil is heavy clay and it is great for digging through that - were most spades would struggle (I broke the shaft of an "ordinary" spade in the clay). Cutting through roots etc is heavy work and quite jarring on the arms and shoulders as you have to slice down with force so be ready to take it in stages.

Does the handle separate from the blade?

nope-unless it breaks. It's done some heavy duty work for me so I would doubt it would break

Why is this spade only £49.95 on Rootslayer website?

I mean , capitalism I guess, if you’re interested in buying it get it where is selling at the best price. I cannot recommend this spade enough, it has dug out so many trees, bushes and brambles and saved me SO much backache and the round handle is genius. Find it at a good price and buy it 👍👍👍
