Saved me a lot of pain - and money for temp fixes
EDIT: After using this and going back to the dentist, he commented on the neat job it did and it posed no difficulty in removal. I had an accident in my past that left me with a fractured tooth. I was advised by the dentist that it would eventually fail, but as it wasn’t causing any problems, I may as well leave it and monitor it. Several years on and it caught up with me. A chunk broke off and left me with a sharp edge. The dentist did an emergency filling with an appointment for a permanent repair in 4 weeks, but within 2 days it broke out – curse my love for salted peanuts! I took a punt with this and wish I had done it earlier rather than pay for a temporary filling. It was really easy to use. Inside the pot is a little roll of a thick paste. Kind of like putty but a lot thicker and dryer. You simply use the provided tool to take a sliver off, roll this into a ball and push it into the void. There were more detailed instructions, but that was it in a nutshell. A wet finger can smooth it over and it naturally dries to a hard layer. Probably best to do it before bed so you don’t have to think about it. Recommendations – Clean your teeth and rise with mouthwash – you don’t want to trap bacteria in the gap. Don’t put too much in to start with. Get the feel of where it is before you push it in as it can be awkward if you need to use your least dominant hand and you can’t directly see it in a mirror. If you get it wrong, remove it straight away before it hardens, although not a major problem as it will eventually come out. Any overfill should be smoothed off and removed. It is only a temporary fill and not fix. It can keep food debris out, prevent anything touching a nerve and thus relieve pain. You may need to repeat application depending on where it is used. For me it was on my molar on a side that I chew the most and absentmindedly eaten on that side and broken the repair twice – will someone take these peanuts away from me! It can easily break off, but it is only designed to be a fix until you get to see a dentist within a few days. Unfortunately, whoever stated this clearly doesn’t have an NHS dentist with a backlog of 6 weeks. Bottom line – can save you a lot of pain and is a good enough fix until you can get a permanent repair. Might be something to take on holidays from now on.

This temporary filling compound is very temporary
I lost a filling and, due to Corvid19 lock-down, my dentist surgery is closed but advised I should protect the cavity with a temporary filling paste which I could get online. I searched online for temporary filling compound, read the reviews (a lot of which were very negative) for this & other products. But this product seemed to have the most positive reviews. You get a disappointingly small amount (about the size of a pencil top eraser) in a tiny pot which is, even so, much larger than the small rod of paste you get. The pot has plenty of spare room in it! The packet I bought advertised that it would do 12 fillings, but this is, of course dependant on the volume of the cavity & I doubt I will get more than 6 fillings from this tiny amount. It starts out with the texture & consistency of synthetic modelling clay (or synthetic DIY filler) & It hardens to the hardness & consistency of something like blackboard chalk. I have been drying the cavity with a cotton bud before applying the filler & smoothing it in & compressing it with a fingertip. The supplied plastic tool comes in handy to cut an amount of filler off, but I find it easier to apply with my finger. I've been doing this just before bedtime as I feel the filling gets a chance to harden overnight with little disturbance until morning. This temporary filling compound is very temporary! The surface wears easily, feeling rough & it's easily dislodged if you use a inter-dental brush or floss. BUT this pretty much what is advertised for the product, by the manufacturer & it does seem to protect the cavity for a couple of days!

Very impressed
Needed this as my filling has fell out and trying to get into a dentist is impossible as we all know So very easy to use just cut a small piece off and roll it between your fingers and put it where you need it It’s white in colour and if a good quality Really good value for money and comes in a little air tight storage pot I used it 4 days ago and it is still intact

Quick and handy, but definitely temporary
I picked up the DenTek Temparin Max kit after unexpectedly losing a filling, and it turned out to be a lifesaver for a few days. The putty is easy to shape and sticks well enough to cover the exposed area, which meant I could eat and drink without constant pain. It’s a reassuring little kit to have on hand for dental emergencies. That said, it’s very much a short-term fix. The material feels a bit rubbery, and you can notice it when chewing. It doesn’t completely replace a professional dental repair, so I had to see my dentist soon after using it. The instructions are clear enough, though I had to read them twice to make sure I was placing the putty correctly. Overall, it’s practical and works in a pinch. If you ever find yourself with a sudden dental mishap, this kit can save you a lot of discomfort, just don’t expect it to be permanent.
