How many tins are needed for big engines

Since the reason for using it is to seal leaky seals- especially the rear crankshaft seal - size doesn't Matter.I used it in my 2 litre engine and it worked well. Hope this is helpful.

do you just put it in engine and thats it or do you need to drain oil first

Just add to engine as if topping up oil -- follow instructions on can. It made a significant difference to my engine. If your engine is due for a routine oil change then do this first and add Stop Leak with new oil.

Will it stop oil coming out of the manifold on a Nuffield tractor?

It's really designed to soften old seals that have become stiff and letting oil pass, it doesn't stop oil leaking from splits etc

can this be sprayed directly onto rubber parts?

I apply it once a year on all rubber in suspension and joints behind the wheel area. Simply pour it into a spray bottle and spray on those parts generously. It well protects them and last them longer. Just a few weeks ago I used on my sister's 2003 Ibiza who was annoyingly making squeaky noise on the right suspension area, now it is gone. A tin would be more than enough for your car all over. I got this idea from a car mechanic in this business for over 50 years.
