It's cheap
It's cheap for a reason, how long it will last is anybodies guess but hopefully it's more than 6 months 😆 I'll update this review if it lasts less than 6 months,It seems to be keeping my 240l warm enough but I think I might get a backup just incase especially with how cheap they are!

Quality
Great quality. Price. Adjustable

Poor
The temperature control is near impossible to turn and whatever temperature it’s set to is incorrect. It’s set at 28°C but is 20°C and doesn’t heat up anymore than that

Loving it
I wasn’t sure because of the mix reviews. It’s great for the moment (a couple of weeks).Temperature is stable and it has a light that comes on/off when working

How to make this heater blow up - GREAT Product not.
I have to be truely honest, I am not impressed by this design at all. But, due to the cost of this I am now on my 4th one, each one has failed due to the same reasons... It does not have a thermostat cut off!!!!!!!The 50w Heater in my tank has worked fine for 4 years now, but I also have a spare one so as to heat up clean water for refreshing the tank.As said this is now the 4th Hidom, all 3 previous heaters have BLOWN up because of a MAJOR OVERSIGHT in the design and on my own part, there is NO THERMOSTAT cut off - This make this heater downright DANGEROUS!!! But, as its cheap you buy the same old same old, as you know its faults and limitations.RIGHT - how to make one of these HEATERS BLOW UPPlace the heater in a bucket of Water, heat your clean water up. Get it to the right temperature, then pour the heated water into your aquarium slowly so as not to stress your fish out.GREAT, now you have done that, you realise that you forgot to switch the HEATER off!!! The Heater is now BRIGHT RED, the Plastic suction cup holder has melted onto the glass, you pick it up, burn your hand, you drop the heater n the water and all of a sudden the GLASS SHATTERS!!!!Alternatively... Try thisFrom the full bucket of heated water place 1 or 2 litres of water into your tank, leave the rest of the water to heat, come back the following day to find that the water level has dropped below a certain level, and you will find that the GLASS has cracked. I did this without realising again... Refilled the bucket switched the heater ON, and BANG!!!!The HEATER shattered, letting in water to the ELECTRICS!!!I am not shouting SOUR GRAPES - I have on 2 previous ocassions left similar messages about IF this is the BEST of BRITISH DESIGN, then who forgot to include a automatic THERMOSTATE CUT OFF!!! No one has ever answered...IF you have one of these heaters, then just try it, take it out of the water and in seconds it starts to OVERHEAT, quickly starting to GLOW BRIGHT RED. Water is actually the COOLANT on this heater (daft really) and without water the heater just runs away with its self, and there no cut off.Now I am not suggesting you do this, but it can and does happen, and it happens so quickly that you don't know that its happened until you put the heater back into the water - then CRACK!!!!CAN SOMEONE PLEASE BUILD A THERMOSTAT SAFETY SENSOR into what is a GREAT 50W heater, so thatt its SAFER for all to use.
