PERFECT! for my application
FR4 Epoxy-Sheet Resin Glass-Fiber Insulation-Plate - 335x300x3.0mmThis thin, high-strength, very rigid glass-reinforced resin plate solidly supports a heavy security camera with floodlights mounted on my garage. The garage’s aluminum siding is far too weak to support the 2-1/2 pound camera/floodlight, and, since the siding’s strakes tilt out from the garage’s 1x10 wood structure, they can’t be sandwiched behind the camera’s mounting base without collapsing into the underlying air space. My solution to that problem incorporates this composite plate into a fabricated panel that angles out to meet the back surface of the aluminum siding, accepts the camera’s mounting screws, and transfers the camera’s weight to the wood structure of the building. The project took some head-scratching and a good bit of fiddling, but the result is satisfyingly neat, strong, and weatherproof. Permanent too.My original idea was to use 1/16” sheet aluminum for the mounting plate, but I wasn’t confident it would be stiff enough. Spotting this engineered composite on Amazon was the eureka moment. It was just perfect for my application. I jig sawed the perimeters with a combination blade and drilled holes using carbide bits at moderate speed. Two-part slow-cure epoxy formed very strong attachments for necessary standoffs and threaded fasteners. (I prepped surfaces with acetone and coarse sandpaper.)This material met my particular needs SO well that it brought a good deal of pleasure to the project. Note to self - and to anyone who has read this far: Get this stuff when a situation calls for sheet material that’s really rigid and strong, waterproof, chemically and thermally stable, affordable… light, and good looking.

Good material
Good material but I wish there was a way to buy more at a better cost. The price is too high for production use.

Thin but Strong
I used three thin fiberglass sheets rather than backer board that was to thick and a danger to saw. I laid tile on top using thin coat of JB Weld to bond tile to glass. Top of the tile at same level as glass inserts. See 2nd photo.

Excellent for 3D printing
The best 3D printer surface that I have used.

Perfect for 3D printing bed
Perfect for use as an adhesion layer over a heated bed for a 3D printer.Excellent PLA adhesion at 60C; and releases with no effort once cooled back to 30C.Note that you will need a touch probe (not inductive) for accurate bed leveling; and that if you need to hacksaw the panel to fit your bed; make sure to wear a dust mask, and saw wet to keep the fiberglass dust down.
