Excellent item makes wine taste a lot better

Expensive but very pleasing to use - and wine really does taste better in an appropriate glass.

This is the glass that set my husband and I on the path of collecting a range of Reidel glasses for the different wine types. We saw an article in Decanter magazine about this glass and decided to try it as we're very interested in wine tasting. We were stunned by the difference it made to fine Burgundy and thought back over wines we've had that would have been so much better if only we'd realized what a huge difference the shapeof the glass could make to the flavour of a wine. What's astonishing about the Reidel glasses (and not just this top of the range one) is that if you pour a wine back and forth between the recommended glass and another shape the wine switches back and forth in flavour. If you are interested in wine, Reidel glasses will greatly increase your pleasure and add a fascinating extra dimension to wine-tasting. We sometimes try out a new wine in a range of glasses and compare the way the different glasses emphasize different characteristics of the same wine.

Beware! This item is described as 'Glasses' but the price of £92 is only for one glass. I purchased these thinking I was buying 2 galsses but when my wife opened the package on our wedding anniversary it only contained 1 glass. It does say further down in the item description '1 glass' but the title of the product is deceiving. Beautiful item, shame we've only got one!

Unfortunately the glass was advertised as the Burgundy Grand Cru Wine Glass Black Series Collector's Edition. However the glass that was delivered was the bordeaux Grand Cru Wine Glass Black Series Collector's Edition. There is a huge difference between these two. I would have returned it however it was a gift and there was not the time to do so. A big disappointment. The Burgundy glass is the classic, the bordeaux is a bit of milk the market follow-on.

These delicate glasses are the best wine glass for Chardonnay that I have found. They must be hand washed carefully as they are very thin glass at the top. We love them even though my wife breaks one every now and then. Reidel says they enhance the wine experience and I would agree.

Purchased a pair of these Vintage Port Collector's Edition glasses and couldn't be happier. At first I had a few short lived disappointments. First, every picture I've seen show these as having a black base and burgundy colored stem which I considered elegant looking. In reality, the stems are bright red which was a surprise but I see black and red are the Riedel company colors and now that's fine. Secondly, I was at first bothered by differences in stem thickness and base diameter. I felt for the money they should be identical. Not until I viewed videos showing production of these that I realize they are individually hand crafted with no two alike. Actually, it is amazing they can get as close as they do. The bowl potion of these glasses is identical as they are mouth blown into molds. But molten glass is added to form the stem and then the base in amounts strictly determined by the craftsman's eye thus differences occur at those points and really guarantee each piece will be a unique piece of art.
