Yes, but the speaker will power down after 10 minutes of of inactivity. Makes it useless with any smart assistant be it Echo dot or Google Home mini.

It says it only supports MP3 format, what does that mean?

The format should not matter for bluetooth, aux connections or radio. It's only if you want to use a micro sd card in your soundcore when you would only be able to play mp3 files from the card.
