It all began in April 1960. That's when the original Dr. Martens 1460 8-eye boot rolled off the production line in Northamptonshire. Designed with a unique performance technology—air cushioned soles—the boot brought a new level of comfort to England's working class. Later in the decade, it was unexpectedly adopted by their children: non-conformists identifying with the reality of their industrial surroundings. It unleashed a fashion rebellion—with the 1460 at the front lines.

A damn fine pair of boots
The day I got these I went on a 10 mile walk to really break them in and found that already they were very smooth to wear.Initially I was not especially fond of the style - finding the boots clunky and less sleek than the typical ones I wear. However, my friends all commented that they thought they looked excellent, which boosted my confidence in them. These shoes are completely legitimate Dr Marten's and come neatly packaged with yellow laces in their box. The package was delivered incredibly quickly and I would have no reservations about using this company again. The shoes are relatively comfortable from the get go but I did find by the end I was forming a little blister on the back of my right foot. I will update if I find this to persist but I suspect it won't.I would offer a word of caution that when initially wearing these for prolonged periods, avoid wearing white socks as mine have been stained red by the leather.Speaking of which, the leather is exceptional. It is incredibly resilient, completely water tight and rather stylish.I would definitely recommend these to anyone who wants a fashionable, comfortable and long-lasting pair of boots at a very respectable price.

Worth the money
Arrived on time. They were tight when I got them so took them to a cobbler to be stretched and they’re now perfect. They’re comfy enough to do a lot of walking. Also keeps your feet warm and dry when it is raining/snowing

Comfortable if you prepare.
These shoes are brilliant! I've been wearing them every day for work and they're really comfortable! I knew to expect the pain of breaking in tough leather shoes, so I wear plasters on my heels and two pairs of socks every day - make sure to tie your laces as tight as possible to prevent rubbing. (I've been wearing leather shoes almost daily all my life, so my heels are pretty scarred and unbreakable.)They're no bigger than I excepted them to be, they are a little wide but the length is fine. The shoes arrived on the last expected delivery date via Royal Mail, in a Dr Martens shoebox with all the stuffings you could expect - they arrived with the black shoelaces and a spare bag of yellow shoelaces. All in all a brilliant shoe - and as long as you know what to expect and prepare, you can prevent a lot of the pain!

These are the first pair of Docs that I've owned. Docs are quite expensive but I wanted a pair of boots that would be sturdy and long lasting which is why I didn't mind the price. Hopefully they'll last a long time. They are incredibly stiff at the moment and I was a bit worried at first but after a bit of googling I see that, apparently, this is perfectly normal. I am gradually breaking them in by wearing them around the house for an hour a day and already I'm starting to notice an improvement in fit/comfort. I am a size 4 with a high instep. The length and width are great but they were really tight to begin with over my instep. Where the tongue is stitched into the boot is quite narrow for me and it did take a lot of tugging to get my foot inside to begin with but apparently this is quite common for a lot of people. I just wore really thin, silky socks and used a shoe horn the first time I put them on and now I no longer need to as I am breaking them in.

Good but just cant get the size right!
I haven't worn Dr martens since the 90's but these seem good quality and well made. However I am definitely a size 7 (female) I had my feet thoroughly measured at a Cotswold store last year for my walking boots (can highly recommend their services) and these boots are way too big for my feet even with 2 pairs of thick socks so am sending back for a smaller size. I thought it was a bit of a risk getting a size 7 with these being advertised as 'unisex' as any mens boots I ve had in the past (mainly for work as womens steel toe caps used to be hard to find) even a size 6 has been roomy. Lesson learnt (again!)Update: have received my size 6s and they do fit much better. Interestingly the size 7s were made in China and the boots themselves were poorly packaged but came with an extra pair of yellow shoelaces. The size 6s were slightly more expensive made in Vietnam better packaged but no extra shoe laces. The quality of both by look and feel seem the same.Update update - Although these boots fit in length they are far too narrow and cripple me whenever I try to wear them. I wouldn't consider my feet wide but apparently for Dr Martens they are! I wouldn't down grade the stars though. They still seem well made if a little stiff, its just my odd feet that dont fit these boots. Shame.. they'll be on ebay soon!

Classic boots that always get noticed.
Classic 8 hole cherry Docs as iconic and well made as ever in my opinion, having been buying them for over 20 years. Other reviews have commented about the waxy coating but unless you're wearing them for some kind of manual labour or for riding a motorbike and therefor changing gears alot with them then I don't think it's gonna be a real problem. I treated mine every day for a couple of weeks with the Dr Martens Wonder Balsam before wearing which worked a treat. Softened the leather really well. And even though I do normally have a bit of a problem with wide feet I found the standard size to be more than roomy enough. I was lucky enough to receive an email from Amazon whilst considering buying a pair which offered me a 20% clothing/footwear discount code for signing up to email updates and was able to get these boots for just over 55 pounds. So keep an eye out for one of those.
