AG Care Mousse Gel Extra-Firm Curl Retention, 10 Fl Oz

This is the BEST product I’ve ever used for my curls. No joke.The combination of a gel and a mousse- not too sticky, still airy and light but a great hold , shiny and frizz free. So impressed with the results!

This is a great substitute for Verb’s foam gel previous formula.

When I first started my curly girl journey, this was my go to and still is today. I love how there is just a little crunch afterwards and I’m left with shiny, soft and bouncy curls. There is a soft scent to it, but it doesn’t stick around on your hair. I have fine, thin hair and it works really well!

This mousse gel is extremely light weight, doesn't dry out out hair if used too much, doesn't weigh down hair, has a really good hold as well (upto 48 hrs for my hair). I have fine and oily 2c/3a curls low porosity so pretty much any product weighs my hair down. This is the first product which hasn't weighed my hair down. My curls look and feel beautiful and even if you use too much, its super easy to break this gel cast so you absolutely can't go wrong with this one!. It is a little to the expensive side but its well worth the money.

I have no idea why other curly girls aren't on to this one. I for the most part do like using ALL NATURAL type of products for the health of my hair. However, this is the best product I have used to HOLD my curls. This is the last part of my routine. After finger coiling with leave ins and curl creams, I scrunch this in at the end. My curls have hold, LOTS of body, and it is not stiff or hard. I usually only wash my hair once a week, and I never get flakes, or have an issue with residue from this. It really is the BEST styler I have used to hold my curls. Nice plump curls. TRY IT (coming from a blonde curly girl with damage. Still- no issue with drying my hair out)-to add, it's a huge bottle. I bought some in November 2019, and still have plenty.

I was so excited for this mousse gel, however I have been very disappointed in the results. I have type 3a- 3b curls. I was told this would give me great hold and volume. While this product is great to get those curls in the back and crown that always seem to deconstruct due to not being able to get product in those areas well, it made the rest of me hair very dry. I also noticed that my curls became frizzy and deconstructed within a few hours. I started to use a very small amount of this right out of the shower and then layering regular gel on top to get the lasting hold I needed without compromising moisture.

My hair is coarse (wide gauge hairs) and between wavy and curly; I generally use gel but it does make my hair take even longer to dry. I like AG fast food conditioner, and love AG Re:Coil so thought I'd try their mousse. This product gives a lighter hold than the medium hold gels I like, but better volume, even with air drying. When air dried I got extremely soft beautiful defined waves and curls, only held for one day, next day disorder. With diffuse halfway to dry, I got great volume and some frizz and disorder - would be good going out hair for a night at a casual event. This is pretty much what I expect from mousse, hold-wise. Where this product really beats other mousse is in the way it leaves my hair feeling. No dryness, no sticky, very healthy feeling hair.

I thought at first my bad results with this product might be user error, but I have now used it 5+ times. It produces a good hold at first, but by the end of the day it has made my hair extremely dry and tangly. My hair very rarely tangled before I used this product. I have tried using different amounts of product, adding water, blow drying, air drying, more leave in conditioner, more curl cream, less of each of those... With every try I got the same dry, tangled result. I'm not sure what's up with this product but it sure didn't work for me.
