Is there any problem using this toothbrush with rechargable batteries?

I don't think there are any problems with using this toothbrush. BUT there are DIFFERENCES between this toothbrush and the more expensive Oral B toothbrushes with built in, non changeable rechargeable batteries. This toothbrush is a bit wider in the hand but OK. It brushes a bit slower and more gently and so is less harsh than those other toothbrushes. It also has no pressure detector or timer so you have to judge how hard you are pressing against your teeth and how long you are brushing. But I like this toothbrush. There is NO PROBLEM with using rechargeable batteries in this toothbrush. It is very easy to change the batteries. Hope this helps.

Is this meant to be just for children? I've seen it advertised as such but can't see any mention here.

can you replace with the same brand brush heads?

yes I have found the all the heads are interchangable if you stick with the Oral B Brand
