Ok so I know all these reviews sound like bots but seriously - this thing works. Like most who get this, I have severe arachnophobia. But I also feel really bad for killing something just because I'm scared of it. So I got this, not really expecting it to work and... it works. Like a dream, in fact. Living in the UK, there are SO many spiders everywhere all the time. The same day my spider grabber arrived, I got to use it on one of those skinny giant spiders in the bathroom. It... it just works. I was stunned. I'm still stunned every time it works. Which is every time I use it. I grabbed a moth with it too, the moth flew away unharmed. A couple of things that should be obvious but weren't to me so maybe they help someone: - If you're a curious arachnophobic like me, don't tilt the device's business end towards yourself to look at the critter you caught. It's there, I promise you. If you look, smaller critters might sort of slide down to the wider end of the grabby part and be able to get through the gaps. - What if the spider gets stuck on the device? It won't, I promise. The grabby part gently folds the spider into a natural position but prevents it from moving. When you capture a spider, usually it puts a bit of safety web somewhere so that it can come back - that's why you sometimes try to set a spider down, walk away and it gets yoinked back to you. Not with this thing, though. Because the spider cannot move, it cannot make a safety line to attach to your spider grabber. When you open the catcher again, the spider just falls down. Then it walks away in a huff - it's SO unharmed it usually doesn't even run. - Also works on moths. I know I'm not the only one that fears them. The moth will fly away when you release it. Thank you, you absolute gem of an invention. Humanity truly has come far. No more guilt, no more fear, I even use this to relocate house spiders when their webs get a bit too much and I want to clean it up. Also it just feels really cool to grab a moth out of the air with this. Try it.

Works well, sturdy, easy to use, better than fold-up spider catcher I tried before. The one I got was grey, not the colour in the picture, but didn't really matter.

As someone who is petrified of spiders but who refuses to kill them, life can be very hard for me. People often laugh when they see my reaction to even the tiniest spiders but they don't understand how debilitating a phobia of spiders can be. I was once locked in my own bathroom for seven hours because a spider seated itself right next to the lock. I missed work that day. Try explaining to your supervisor that you missed work because a spider trapped you in the bathroom! I was in tears by the time it moved off the door and only escaped by throwing a towel on it and running out the room as if I were being chased by some demon or something. My house mate later dealt with the towel and I couldn't use it again. When you have a phobia of spiders, spiders become your entire life. You never really stop looking for them, which is why you always see the tiny ones that other people miss. You are always waiting for the next time a massive spider appears and turns your life upside down (is this a first world problem?). I did buy the vacuum type spider catcher but couldn't use it as the tube is clear plastic and the spider is sucked up right close to your hand. I couldn't stomach it. I kept imagining the sight of a spider writing around with its long legs right next to my hand. But this device has worked very well for me. I never believed I would ever be able to put a spider outside but now I can! It takes a lot of mental preparation to launch with it as I am terrified of missing and making the spider move, but I have succeeded to throw out every spider I have seen. Apart from one: a spider almost the size of my hand (slight over-exaggeration maybe) and I did not have faith that the bristles could hold it. I couldn't get the image out of my head of this massive spider running up the length of the handle towards me. I shudder now just to think of it. My landlady dealt with the spider in the end. But this device has made me more confident with most of the spiders that enter my life. I feel that my phobia is actually decreasing somewhat. I saw a money spider in someone's hair a couple of weeks ago and managed not to freak out. That was a proud moment for me. I doubt I can be cured, but this device has given me some power to deal with situations that would once have caused a major problem for me. I have two. One which I keep in the bathroom always, as I refuse to be locked in my bathroom ever again. And one which I use in the rest of the house. I am considering purchasing a third. Sometimes there is a spider on the stairs, which prevents me from going upstairs to get the spider catcher. Keeping one downstairs would solve this problem nicely. Yes, I might buy another one right now.
