if you think Ginny & Harry’s relationship was weird/sudden/came out of nowhere; this book does the relationship the justice the film failed to do!
If youre someone who’s obsessed with all the wizarding world content available through the films, YouTube content creators (MovieFlame is the best channel for this as he’s book loyal and is an encyclopedia of everything JKR/HP and he fills in gaps/questions youve got that you can’t get out your head, he breaks down films vs book differences deep dives on every character from birth to death, does great content on the periods between both franchises before grindlewaald, during his time, after his defeat but pre Voldemort and then both 1st war after but before 2nd, during 2nd war and afterwards honestly if you wish there was more wizarding world content to get lost in you’ll get it from Morgan’s channel its MovieFlame on both YouTube and TikTok and even more for his patreon subscribers and his content made me read all the books which id never read this or deathly hallows and because of that i did like Harry with Ginny i just felt there’d be someone better fitted to him, thats totally changed now ive read this book, i really hope the new HBO show does this relationship justice where the films failed but im planning to rewatch the films as a marathon the second i close the final page of deathly hallows.. this book is so far my favourite out of them all and I can’t wait to rewatch the last 3 films and see if with more context ive gained from this book and the final one whether my order of favourite films may change, ive laughed and cried reading this book and managed to read it in one day as I couldn’t put it down!

The penultimate installment in the best saga ever written
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is as equally brilliant as its predecessor, though somewhat shorter, it still manages to fit an entire year at Hogwarts into one book. Times are becoming harder and the dark wrath of Lord Voldemort is closer than ever, he is gathering more and more followers and Harry's sixth year at Hogwarts is the darkest yet. There is a new teacher (Horace Slughorn) and many more revelations and plot twists to make this book very had to prise yourself away from. J K Rowling continues to weave the epic saga of Harry and bring to life a world that is not only perfectly described and imagined but also strangely believable. Her choice to darken the tone was wise, as Harry is growing up and the wizarding world is no longer the whimsical, magical place it was in Philosopher's Stone. The plot largely revolves around Harry and Dumbeldore trying to learn as much as they can about Voldemort so that they can get an advantage over him. This involves many chapters with just Harry and Dumbeldore talking about Voldemort - however this is no bad thing, instead Rowling makes her dialogue fast paced and engaging and very informative. The memories that are explored in this book reveal very important plot details and foreshadow things to come in the final book. Not only does Harry have to contend with Voldemort but romance that seems to be another major theme in this sixth book, Ron finds himself drawn to a girl and Hermione finds herself very jealous. Harry on the other hand finds out that he has been long harbouring feelings for someone very unexpected... Rowling writes each chapter so fast paced and exciting that they are over before you can say Expelliarmus. Highlights of book six include a journey to a cave where Voldemort hid something very important that could prove vital to defeating him. This scene is very well written creepy and tense. Another good chapter is the climax where a battle with the death eaters wages at Hogwarts. There is also a very unexpected and shocking death (i won't say who dies in case you haven't read it). Overall, Half Blood Prince is a worthy addition to the Potter saga and by the time i was nearing the end of this book it did feel like the calm before the storm, like this was the last year at Hogwarts before the final, epic battle that will decied the fate of the wizarding world and of Harry.

Harry Potter & The Gap Year of Evil?
I cannot believe that after all this waiting since The Order of the Phoenix, that the latest HP book has come out. I pre-ordered this book since January, but like many others, I could not bear to wait until the book arrived in the morning post to start reading, so I went along with a friend at midnight so that I could at least read the first chapter with her. Then I got my copy in the morning, and then spent the rest of the weekend engrossed in the story. I know that I cannot describe anything that is within the pages, as this would spoil so much for all the fans. However, what I will say is that this book does reveal many of the answers which devotees will have been yearning to know since Harry Potter began. There are plenty of revelations made which bring together the multiple clues that have been given throughout the series, and readers will see new light on many of the mysteries that were introduced in earlier books. However, Rowling places many gentle reminders throughout the story of when particular clues were given (e.g. so-and-so happened in Harry's 2nd year at Hogwarts), which in a way, seems to be giving fans less credit than they deserve. Apart from this little fault, the book is entirely gripping stuff. There is certainly less of the teenage angst which was riddled throughout most of the previous volume, and it seems that the story has matured markedly almost as much as Harry himself has had to do because of all the hardships that he has been through. There is certainly a greater tinge of darkness in the way the plot has been written: Harry, at times, sounds almost obsessed with his mission to destroy the Dark Lord, but you cannot help but understand what it is that he is going through because all readers will have experienced the same as he did as they read through the books. However, it still should be remembered that Rowling is writing for primarily, a children's audience, and specific themes have had to be "kid-dified" such as jealousy and murder. Although, I believe adult readers will be able to get the hint. As Harry Potter has grown, the books have gradually become bleaker, and the sense of the oncoming doom has developed. This being the penultimate book, Rowling has basically set up this book as preparation for the grand finale of the last book. Nearly all the questions have been answered, the lines have been drawn, Harry knows what he has to do, and all that is left is for the ultimate confrontation between him and Voldemort (boo, hiss!). This book provides all the twists and suspense with which everyone will have come to expect from the author, but I should also say that this book will sadden, which is something else that cannot be escaped. Overall, an excellent book, which I've not given 5 stars simply because the story still has not ended, and I will probably have to wait at least a couple of years before book 7! I just cannot wait!

Consiglio assolutamente.

A great build up to show Harry realising he's gotta hold his own. But whether or not he can control his anger and wise up is another matter. A really good read that holds it's own and keeps the excitement of reading strong
