Don’t know about rats but it’s excellent for picking up spiders (big or small), wasps, moths that come flying in at night, ladybirds, even the odd ant!! I absolutely Love mine & best of all I feel good not having killed them & being able to release them outside unharmed 😊

Does this repel ants too?

well as ive answered to another person previously this product as as useful as spraying water, the item you are tryingto get rid of will just laugh at you
