Well-made affordable alternative to Ott Lite
So glad that I purchased this magnifying light!!! I purchased this light a few weeks ago, and have already gotten several hours of reliable use out of it. It came with everything I needed to securely mount it, a microfiber cloth to clean the magnifying glass, and the power cord. It all came carefully and securely packed in an appropriately sized box with proper shipping materials.I do a lot of quilting and sewing, which means I also need to use a seam ripper now and again. I recently had to replace the zipper on my favorite jacket. If I didn’t have this magnifying light, I’m not so sure I would have been so successful. Some of the stitching was so tightly done, and black on black isn’t so easy to see. Using the lighted magnifying glass made the project go so smoothly, made the stitches so much clearer, that I was able to safely remove the old zipper without damaging the jacket. The light easily mounted to one of those thick folding picnic tables you get from Costco, that I had temporarily setup as a sewing station for holiday crafts. It clamps easily and securely to the table. It easily stretches and maneuvers into the position I need it to and stays in place until I want to move it out of the way or in another position for the next task. It moves securely and steadily, and doesn’t spring back at you, or bounce endlessly when quickly shoved away. One of the other great things about it is that you can easily adjust the brightness of the light. you can select either warm or cool white light at various intensities. Having the ability to brighten and dim the light through six or eight different levels is so wonderful, makes it so much easier on my eyes while working on projects that take a lot of time, or simply while enjoying reading a book with annoyingly small print size.If you are anywhere close to on the fence about whether or not to get this light, GET IT!!! This is a well made and much more affordable alternative to the Ott Lite! In case you are wondering, I was in no way compensated for this review. I wrote this because I am very happy with my purchase and am glad I got it.

An actually useful review of Veemagni 5 Inch Large Magnifying Glass
I just received this and I'm so pleased with it I had to write this review.I read other reviews and worried it wouldn't be large enough, bright enough, or magnify enough. If those are your concerns, stop worrying. The pics I'm attaching show the size relative to my keyboard (it's about 14" above it), the super fine print on a $20 bill (2 things everyone should have to compare with), and the incredible brightness of the light. The 6 color modes of the light give you the same reddish color as an incandescent bulb, the slight blue of fluorescent, or pure white (which is both combined), and each in 2 intensities. The brightness is continuously dimmable down to a pretty low level and up to "ouch that's too bright".Anyone complaining about the brightness either hasn't figured out the controls or needs to see a doctor. The control buttons are sealed and seem strong enough to last if pressed just hard enough. I've had many gadgets with this type of surface mounted switch, they only break if you press them hard enough to loosen them. The size of the thing is actually as shown in the product photos (for a change!)It's very well built, solid and stable when installed (with rubber covering on the metal clamp to protect your wood desk). It does not come with a stand, only the clamp. The support arm works well, is tightly fitted, and will bring the magnifying portion 33 inches from the mount point. Perfect on my large desk. There's even a locking screw on a knob where the arm fits into the desk mount, in case you don't want it swiveling side to side.Very important for me is the 5" glass lens. I'm nearsighted in one eye, so with a magnifying glass that's not big enough I have to close one eye or I see a double image. If you also have this problem you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. The lens is big enough to use BOTH my eyes and actually do close work with both my hands. The light is very nice - nice enough to serve as a lamp for reading or just general illumination.A bonus is you can use this as one of those halo lamps for doing selfies, or talking head videos. It's just a great product - even if it cost 100 bucks, but it only cost $39.Sometimes the global economy actually works for the little guy. Sometimes.

A decent small light at a reasonable price.
I bought this light to replace a 9" diameter circular fluorescent light that wore out on my modeling workbench. This light is a bit brighter and functions about the same as the old light. It has several settings for the color and brightness' of the light, though I only use it on the "white" light setting at maximum brightness. Overall, the unit is a bit lighter in construction than my old light, but it still seems fairly sturdy. It is easy to adjust the arm, and it locks in position well. My one issue with the light is the buttons that control the light. They are quite small, and are located close together on the top of the circular light cover. I often press the wrong button when I turn the light on or off This results in changing the color or brightness of the light, which I then have to reset. Not a big deal, but somewhat aggravating to me. The buttons are also covered with a thin film of plastic. On the "on-off" button that film is red. It is not very sturdy, as the film on mine has already cracked and chipped. This may have been caused by me frequently using my fingernail to push the button, but this is because the buttons are so small and close together. Other than the button issues, I feel this is a decent light for a reasonable price.

Should have gotten sooner
As I age my eyesight definitely suffers while working on small parts projects. This has been a lifesaver for assembling those small parts. Not so bright that it washes out detail and well focused on the work area. It looks and feels a little clumsy at first but seems to be well made and the adjustments are easy. The magnifier has a fair depth of field and is relatively clear. Wouldn't use it for brain surgery but works well for what I'm doing. N scale model railroad is small.

Very good quality
I love this lamp for my jewelry hobby. The lights are bright and white, it stays where you put it, and magnification is clear.

I ordered this lamp for my brother and arranged for it to be sent directly to him. He received the item in good condition and had no difficulty with setting up. He told me that he liked the lamp and finds it useful. Many thanks!

Really good for the price point
Likes: on/off switch is illuminated when off (smart!) and is a single press on-off, not a stupid press and hold to turn on.Magnifying lens is good magnification levelClamp is alloy/metal, seems solidDislikes: bushing in table base is plastic, could crack with pressureLens is optically distorted at the edges (massively so)Lamp is not super brightColour temps are estimated at best and kinda uselessArms are shorter than optimal if attached to back of work surfaceDoesn’t have much damping; it’s either loosey-goosey or tight (which makes on-the-fly adjustments a bit of a PITA)Honestly it’s not as great as an old lab model I have on another surface (which cost $275 about 10 years ago and is bright enough to blind haha) but for the price it’s a really good tool. I think of it as a magnifier with light instead of a work lamp that happens to have a magnifier. I would prefer a better model if it was the only one I had, but for a supplemental area (I have it over my press ) it’s great.
