Impressive, clear, recording.
Had to purchase this, as I gave up with inferior, sub-£30 digital recorders that I purchased from online sellers. The Sony TX660 is not a budget recorder, due to it's premium price, but in very many cases with premium goods, you get what you pay for. I have purchased many USB digital recorders, which are very discreet, and can be used at functions such as weddings/marriage ceremonies etc. They provide basic quality sound of which some are better than others. These have disappeared from sale, to a greater extent, and I am not really surprised. The Sony TX660 has impressed with its excellent, clear, sound quality, which is adjustable, and can be tailored for many events like meetings, conferences, lectures, and the like. While I would never advocate covert, secret recording without informing people that they are being recorded; (it could land you in big trouble!), the voice quality that this thing picks up if worn as a pocket clip attached recorder is impressive.Once you have experimented with the various setting menus on the the OLED screen, and become more familiar with the small side buttons, which are small, I admit, you will not be disappointed with the sound results, once transferred to Laptop or PC.The Sony is a excellent piece of kit in a small, discreet, package, but at a price that reflects this.

One of the Best
I love this recorder. Yes, it is slightly expensive compared to the others but in my opinion it is worth it. First off, it records with clarity even if there is loads of noise it manages to focus on the human voice so this is great for lectures etc. Battery life is decent but that could be better. You have loads of recording quality options. You can also insert MicroSD card. The speaker is just for reference if you want to hear you recording perfectly plug in the headphones and be amazed. I did try Olmpus recorders but this one wipes the floor with them!

Great Compact Voice Recorder
I bought this for recording my job interviews so I could give feedback to clients and also to practice for exams. I wanted one that had stereo microphones and a decent storage capacity. Here is my simple review.DesignIt is a compact and very slim device, it feels natural in the hand, and is also very attractive and stylish too. The device has two microphones with an option for external mic. The button layout is logical and are placed in the right places, the Record and stop buttons are larger than rest resulting in an easier operation of its main function's. The build quality is also solid and well built. The LCD is bright and clear the text and items can easily be read. Having a built in usb for instant data transfer is so convenient, when not in use it slots back into the device. (great Idea) A SD card slot will give you Extra storage with maximum of 64GB.Performance/usabilityThe performance is what I expected from Sony the OS is simple to use, the menus and subfolders are in a logical order. I like the fact that you can see the Left/Right microphone recording levels on the display in real time, your recent recordings and folders are displayed on the screen for easy access. The recorder has no lag, recordings can be played within microsecond’s, the machine is very responsive. I have tried all the various settings, you can choose the sensitivity of the mics, you also have equaliser with pre-set voice modes, you can even set it for music to. The options on this machine will have something for everyone. The recording quality is excellent voice recordings are clear and sharp and you can even boost the vocals higher if needed. I set my recordings at 192kps but you can go lower. The inbuilt speaker is ok, it can be bit muffled at times when put to full volume, I normally plug headphones in for easy listening. I love the option of a built in usb which I then connect and transfer my recordings to my PC to listen and edit recordings. The sound quality when played on stereo speakers is good, these mics can pick up lot background sound even at some distance. The battery life is excellent last me 2 weeks it can be easily charged via its usb socket.ConclusionThis a great voice recorder it excels in all areas, its compact well-built and produces excellent audio. I definitely recommend this for anyone who wants a quality voice recorder with great usability and performance.

Neat sound recorder
Although this is a memo taker it actually reaches into other areas by virtue of it's stereo capability and CD resolution recording setting. It can be used for recording music and has some useful settings to accomplish this. It's not quite up to studio quality and the built in microphones are a basic but decent quality,I have been using it with a Roland CS-10EM binaural headset to record my audio experiences when I'm out and about and the results are uncannily good! The headset works perfectly with the Sony recorder (as will any external microphone requiring plug-in power) and the recording quality is excellent, clean and low noise. Plenty of dynamic range available for most situations. For use out and about it is extremely convenient as it its about half the size of an old (non smart) mobile phone and the batteries last for more than enough time for a days roaming around. It transfers to PC easily enough with the built in USB connector. However, this arrangement does seem a bit vulnerable to being knocked out of place and I worry it might break! I think I would have preferred a socket and cable arrangement. It can take Micro SD cards but will store more than 5 hours of high quality WAV recording using the on board 4Gb memory so this device comes pre-loaded with a usable amount of memory. It does also record in MP3 format in which case you can store over 39 hours at 192kbps.The only possible negative is the display which has tiny text and can be difficult to read at times. But once you've got it set up the controls are easy so shouldn't present a problem.Altogether a very neat, high quality device.
