Vandoren Rue Lepic Bb Clarinet Reeds - Box of 10 - Strength 3

Reeds are very much a personnal choice and need to match the player and mouthpiece. I play with a vandoren M13 profile 88 mouthpiece, which likes a hard reed. Vadoren 56s have a reputation for having a short life but, I have never had that problem and, all in all the life of these reed at strength of 3.5, I find very good. A softer reed may show this issue. I am not a professional player, but this is by far my favourite reed. I has a clear and pure tone that is maybe a little quieter than some other reeds but, suits the classical and traditional genres really well. I am no jazz or kletzmer player but, I would imagine you would want something with a little more oomph in it for that. The consistency of quality is pretty good although I have noted a dud or two but, every so often a box throws up the reed equivalent of stradivarious. The negative is that they a pricy so they may not be the sort of reed you would want to give to a inexperienced young player. But, if there is an exam coming up it may be a worth while investment if you want to play - hunt the stradivarious and find teh very best reed in the box. Could make a big difference to tone and exam outcome

Exceptional reeds so much more flexibility in these than the standard blue ones. I moved away from vandoren when I bought my Buffet R13 many years ago. After returning to the world of woodwind after 15 years a lot has changed. These are now my go to reed for Bb clarinet. I just hope they release these for all the clarinet family.

I use strength 3 on a Vandoren M13 mouthpiece. No real duds in the box.
