Gravity Cakes!: Create 45 Amazing Cakes

I saw this advertised and thought I'd buy it for ideas for my grandson's birthday party. He's now eight and thought my cakes were "boring". I followed the recipe for the beach cake as we live near the sea. It was very easy to follow the clear instructions and the photographs that show each step make the construction of the finished cake almost foolproof.My grandson and his friends were amazed by the cake and my other grandchildren have already started looking for the cakes they want for their birthdays! I particularly like that if you are not a particularly keen baker you can use your favourite shop bought cake, provided the size is right. It's much more about being good at following the easy directions for decorating and constructing the fantastic special effects.I love this book and would certainly recommend it to anyone who enjoys making spectacular birthday and celebration cakes without spending a fortune.

I was delighted with my book when it arrived, it is just what I had hoped - beautifully illustrated with step by step instructions for foolproof gravity cakes, exactly what I need. I am so happy that I can finally make these amazing looking cakes and impress my friends who are all great bakers. I highly recommend this book for everyone from beginners to great bakers, the writing and the pictures are second to none.

Ive bought many baking books in my time but this one is easy to follow with clear and concise instructions ranging from easy to difficult, so you can rustle up a quick gravity cupcake for afternoon tea or make a show stopping cake for a special occasion! Some of the designs look so real its hard to believe they are just cakes! My new go to baking book!

Bought this as a pre-loved item, it was less than half the cost of new, but still in great condition. Looking forward to making some of these cakes.

I regularly bake cakes and I was a little nervous to make my first gravity one! However , the instructions are so clear and concise that I had a great time making the candy waterfall. The pictures are also such a good guide to help you if you are unsure of what each step should look like !I can't wait to make my next one , I am off to order a decorating turntable !

This book has nice ideas and the authors are lucky they had it published. But have to say that the finished cakes they've photographed are amateurish. Fondant cracking, Tiffany cake box finished off all wonky and a champagne bottle all lumpy. Poker themed cake also finished off lumpy. Boards aren't covered properly and not finished with ribbon.

I was really looking forward to getting this book but I am slightly disappointed. I think another review expressed similar views to mine. There are some good ideas in it and food for thought, but I couldn't help but question the actual finish of their cakes. Some of them looked a bit bumpy and just not a professional finish that you expect from a book like this. I was left thinking, well if theirs looks like that what on earth are mine going to look like! So definitely there needed to be more attention to detail and a more polished result. I am a bit surprised that it got published in its current form.

This book is amazing! I have already attempted the bowl of cereal cake and it turned out great. The instructions were so clear and easy to follow at every stage. My next attempt will be the Tiffany Jewellery box, I just love it so much, I've checked out the instructions and I know I can do it, so I'm really excited. I highly recommend this book for anyone who wants to bake to impress !!!
