This is the third book from Rolina van Vliet & once again, it is not only a treat just look at the beautifully reproduced artwork, but she continues to help the artist 'Turn that Creative Light Bulb' on with her knowledge. Rolina lays out the 'plan' for each project (materials needed, the purpose of the particular task at hand, techniques, picture elements, etc.) so the artist can then, take that 'plan' to develop their own style & confidence to produce beautiful paintings. I can safely say that you will want to steal away to your studio & paint, paint, paint! It's loaded with lots of fun inspiring information to help take you to the next level.

This book does not dissapoint. It is not a '1 2 3 follow these steps' book. Rather this book, ignites the imagination, causes the brain matter to digest and evolve in style thoughts and allows the individual to find their way to create what they have within, It has guide lines which are invaluable. There are many colour photos of varied art pieces to highlight the never eding possibilities of abstract. If you like to think your way to discover your own style or perhaps need a re-freshing start to overcome a block, then buy this book. If you are looking to learn how to paint abstract from scratch, leave this book until you have gained some experience.

I purchased this art book after I had purchased another art book on painting abstracts. This has some wonderful projects demonstrated in it,, and I will use it as I work toward more abstract paintings. It shows many different compositional styles in abstract painting, so that whatever appeals to you is given cache. I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in abstract painting, regardless of the medium.

I am not an abstract painter, at least not yet, so this book is a diversion from the usual for me. Her colors are beautiful, and she shares a lot of good concepts, but I am not sure it is for me. I know abstracts are very in vogue, so I need to try them. Composition is something she stresses and appears very important to abstracts, as it is to every kind if painting.Jump in and try it. I need to.

This is one of the best books I've found to help me get started again when I'm blocked in my painting. So many different ideas, and lots to learn from each exercise.I skip around a lot. Really like the suggestions and the examples.

Many illustrations by the author and her talented students of their beautiful paintings. Highly recommend this. Practical strategies for getting started and completing your paintings. Very well done. Inspiring.

I found this book is a good starting point for developing my own abstract paintings.
