Informative and Fun Book
I bought this book for my 8 year old for Christmas. I have no doubt he will love it as he has a keen natural interest in the world at large and is always asking about different cities and what goes on in them. Having looked through the book myself on arrival, i can see that it is very well laid out to grab a younger childs interest (and an adults too i must say!) and seems to be full of interesting facts. If he enjoys this as much as i think he will, i will definitely go ahead and order the Travel Book also.

Kids will love this
Fantastic book for children who are interested and inquisitive about the world. Full of fun facts on the major cities in each of the continents. We own the book on countries that Lonely Planet for Kids released and this is another fantastic addition.

The Cities Book
I don't know exactly why but my review is coming up under the paperback version when I was actually sent the hardback version and so my review is for the hardback version. This is such an informative book which is full of facts about over 85 of the worlds cities. At the beginning there is a map of the world which shows which cities are featured in the book and which pages the information about them is held over. Alternatively there is a contents list at the back however this doesn't just list the cities and lists some of the items discussed from those cities and so personally I find it easier to use the city guide to navigate if wishing to view on city alone. Obviously the book can't cover every city but it has selected quite a few different ones from each continent with Europe seeming to have the largest amount of cities featuring in the book.On each double page with the facts chosen about the city is some illustrations and also a few photos and this is a very interesting read. This would be perfect for a child wishing to learn just a few key facts about certain cities and it is really interesting reading however nowadays with the internet being so prevalent and used so much I feel the book may be dated all too soon and it is a lot faster obviously to get the information online. A good book which is brightly illustrated and has unusual facts alongside more common ones but I do wonder how relevant the book will remain as the internet is constantly updated.

A Treasure Chest of Information!
This is a delightful reference book for children. It is beautifully presented and the quality is excellent, just what you would expect from"Lonely Planet" books. The Contents page is quite unique in that it shows a map of the world, which includes each city of a particular country, together with the page number where you can find lots of information. So, any city information you need to find is portrayed on the map of the world. At the back of the book there is the usual alphabetical Index. My 8 year old Grandson loves it and enjoys the amount of really interesting facts about the city he is looking for. This book is a treasure chest of information. A great Christmas present to put on your bookshelf..
