As others have, I bought this to replace a series of glass cafetierres that I have broken over the years and am well pleased with the result.Being stainless steel and of a very simple design, with no nooks and crannies, it's much easier to keep clean that my glass ones were. The plunger and mesh filter fit well and do scrape a little when depressed but it's not annoying and the close fit ensures that the grounds are kept separate from teh coffee you are going to drink. Overall, it appears to be very well made, solid and of a pleasing weight in the handSome reviews of steel cafetierres have commented that the steel affects the taste of the coffee - I have not found this to be true in this case.It's also quite a nice thing and doesn't look bad sitting on the kitchen work surfaces.If you are thinking of changing from glass to steel, I would recommend trying this one. I have no regrets

Nice looking pot. I bought a medium but swapped it for the largest one as one cups never enough. It looks hard wearing. It's nicely finished and looks good in taking it's part in the coffee making theatre

I bought a small one of these a few years ago & recently bought this medium one as a gift. The quality is excellent. The double wall and the design of the lid means the coffee stays hot for ages. The metal construction means this is unsmashable!! The black design is ultra smart. Great peace of kitchen kit. Looks great and performs brilliantly.

I purchased a Black coated cafetiere thinking it would match other kitchen items I already owned. However after a few months use, and hand washing, I decided to give my cafetiere a freshen up in the top shelf of the dishwasher. (It's supposed to be dishwasher safe). This was a mistake. Some of the black coating on one side peeled off and some of coating on the base has worn off.A plain stainless steel one might be a better choice!As for thermal insulation, it keeps warmer for longer than a glass one but doesn't keep heat is as well as expected - indicated by the outside becoming warm to touch as some heat is being lost through the wall. I own a good quality stainless steel insulated cup and it loses almost no heat through its wall.So product is OK but less than perfect!
