I have a TS-9 as well, but I prefer this! BOSS is BOSS!
This new, Waza Craft, in other words; Made In Japan Super Overdrive (as were the OG BOSS pedals), is superb!I have a fair few overdrives, and although the Waza Blues Driver (BD-2w) is probably my favorite for lead boosting as an overdrive, this one isn't far behind, and is arguably the better 'always on' pedal of the two, especially for Hard Rock / Heavy Metal tones! That's probably a biased statement, as that's the genre of music I prefer, but stack the two together and you've got something quite special!Harmonics just seem to jump out with this pedal on, and I find myself having a very handy 'Van Halen-esque' tone constantly and easily - great for lead and rhythm.Simple, foolproof layout and knob options, typical bombproof BOSS build quality, low current draw (15mA for all you pedalboard builders out there!), comes with a 9V battery as well. The switch in the middle changes the character of the drive from the old, standard SD-1 (but with improved circuitry) to a more modern take - both are great, but I personally REALLY like the Custom option!Nothing to dislike here, superb pedal at a more than fair price.

Probably the best pedal of it's type
Likely the best overdrive. It has a really good range from subtle to slightly over the top.Really nice when playing monophonic or duophonic. Not really for metal, there are better distortion pedals for that I would say, but great for rock and blues style for many popular bands styles. Not sure I needed the waza features, when on, the waza reminds me of the Dolby switch hifi devices used to have ie it adds tone maybe a little dull and less rough. Through a large amp this may make a huge difference. Better to have it and not regret it later though when you see reviews or your friends tell you how great waza is

One of the best chorus pedals around!

The original HM2 plus a little friend built in
The sound of 90s Scandi death metal, simply beautifully chainsaw sounding! The new mode seems to perk up the mids in some way. Can be used for searing leads and grimy chords too!

Great sturdily made pedal with lots of adjustment available
Great sturdily made pedal with lots of adjustment available. It turned out *not* to be a pedal I like plugged into the front of my JVM. You might ask why I'd want a blues drive pedal in front of a dirty marshall amp. It was intended for the clean channel but even the clean channel on the amp needs its own gain turned up or the volume is too low. The combination is far too mushy for blues. My Turnip Greens drive pedal sounds really nice into the Marshall clean channel.I don't know if Amazon allow links but if it isn't removed I suggest anyone looking at a drive pedal watches this video first. Unfortunately I live in the wilds of west Ireland so am nowhere near a shop that will let me test pedals with the same amp that I own. But if you are near a shop, then please go and do it before you buy a pedal. Watch the vid to see just why. You can still come home and purchase from Amazon if it's cheaper.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CdKjhXWpjq8If the link gets removed, search youtube for That Pedal Show and look for the video titled "Setting up your amp to use with drive pedals". It actually is a discussion of why certain drive pedals work with one amp and sound awful with another. Well worth a watch.

This is great!!!
I've had lots of distortion pedals, and even built my own (Fuzz Face), but so far nothing beats this DS-1W. Lovely smooth distortion with a sweet tone, and can range from almost no distortion effect up to heavy distortion, so this can usefully replace an overdrive pedal. The Custom setting basically gives you a second distortion pedal, so it is almost two for the price of more-than-one (quite expensive, but overall worth the money). HOWEVER, if you just want a nice distortion pedal, without the extra oomph of the Custom setting, then go for the DS-1 (without Waza Craft), for much less cost. Nevertheless, now I have bought this I will keep it, the facility of effectively two distortion effects in one unit is nice to have.

oh my days... what a pedal this is!
Probably one of, if not the best chorus pedal on the market. If you love all those 80's classic chorus sounds this is the ticket for you. For the CE-2 mode, think about the sounds of the Police, Pretenders, Echo Beach, Bryan Adams, the Cure & all those great riffs from that era & that's a good marker for how this pedal sounds. CE-1 mode takes you off into the more richer realms of chorus with some frighteningly accurate sounds akin to a few famous Metallica riffs.... i'll let you figure the rest out. The 3rd mode, (CE1 Vibrato) with a few twists of the rate & depth you can get some great sounds also. Rate & depth take you from beautifully subtle to some really edgy stuff so there is hours of fun to be had.It works & sounds great with both single coils & humbuckers. Running mine through a Marshall DSL with 4 x 12 cab if your wondering. This is an amazing pedal which i highly recommend to those left wondering if the price tag seems a little steep. I was in this boat, glad i went for it as its worth worth every penny & of course, It's built like a tank as you would expect from Boss.Cheers Boss, you've just created something very special once again!Well happy!
