I’ve tried every combo of wifi routers to meet the needs of my house, and only this one has been able to produce the goods. I’m covering nearly 3K sq ft of house, with 3 kids that use a computer for gaming plus a minimum of of 2 each additional devices/draws while doing so. I think at any given moment, I probably have no less than 15 things connected to my WiFi. This router handles it all. Basic mesh setups failed me previously due to overall bandwidth limitations, but with the hybrid mesh setup I get with this, I get a high powered gaming router and a mesh extender that can deliver in previously unreachable spots with high speed and with seamless connectivity, The DumOS software works well with the 1.7 GHz processor; it’s intuitive and able to manage your traffic nicely. Overall, it’s a little pricey , but well worth the money if you’ need to run a sustainable, high demand, Internet connection over a large area with multiple gamers and streamers.

Excelente producto, facil de instalar, gran velocidad, muy buena señal. El empaque venia dañado con un corte de navaja que llego hasta el router.

Well, I have bought this XR300 and the AX8 WiFi 6 router at the same time. And to test which one is easier for set up just right out of the box. This router only took me 15 minutes from opening the box til set up online using. Quite simple, just using the method of circle through the basic setup. Power down the modem, then router. And then reboot. That’s all it took ! But man, that was another story for setting up the AX8. No matter what I used or did, I just couldn’t connect it to the internet. First I used the night hawk app to set up, didn’t work. Then I tried to use the web base admin to login, but still failed. Either one stated router not found. What the heck? Even though all lights are on . I think this one might have malfunction and I requested amazon to exchange for another one. Hopefully it will be ok. One thing I will mention here is I have read a reviewer wrote a “ One Star “ for this high performance XR300 router. He said when he connects the wired from his PC to the modem directly, his internet speed will be blazing fast. Such as 800 or 900mb per second. But when he switches to this XR300 router for WiFi, then the speed will decrease dramatically just around 350mb. He said that it should be close to 1Gig per second or faster because he has signed up for one Gig contract with his ISP. So he stated this router is garbage. I really don’t know if this reviewer knows anything or a little bit of networking knowledge. Hey, if you know a little bit of technology for computer, you should know WiFi speed WILL NEVER faster or more stable than WIRED. There are a lot of things which are related to the WiFi speed that you will gain. For example: Location, Distance, and what gadgets you are using, etc........ Some people even claim their Upload speed is way way ahead of his Download speed. Such as 800mb for upload and 200mb something for download. Are you kidding me ? Anyway, this is a very good router for streaming 4K movies or playing online games. I live in a bi-level house and I can stream 4K videos from Netflix or YouTube without a buffing or lag at lower floor about 20 to 30 feet from the router. ( note my router is located on upper floor at far corner). It is very stable and performs very well! Oh make sure you also have a decent modem to match with it. This is absolutely important too.

This router is simply amazing...lets see where to begin. First off from pulling it out the box you feel like you have a miniature Lockheed F-117 Nighthawk in your hands. Lets get the annoying part out of the way first...the price and the setup. The setup was quasi user friendly but the whole process was slow and sluggish. There were a couple of times I thought it was broken as it would me to click next and so I would only to be greeted by a "this page cannot be found screen". This happened so many times I almost did not make it through the install phase. Luckily I kept at it because wow...wow wow wow. It was a lot (i mean ALOT) for me to try to justify spending what I did for this router as the old router I had (a Nighthawk model as well) had only been like $100 and served me well for nearly 7 years. I know a lot of the feature inherently built into this XR700 are standard but they were new to me and I was blown away. To be fair I had ordered 3 other routers to benchmark against each other (TP Link Archer C5400x, Asus AX6000, and the Netgear Nighthawk AD7200) to find the best overall one. I compared QoS, ease of setup, user-"friendliness", signal strength, features, down & upload speeds. Setup: Covered above (TP Link Archer C5400x won this hands down) User Friendliness: All roughly about the same QoS/Prioritization: Hands down the XR700. You can set the bandwidth and upload speed prioritization with ease as well as select between an option of having the prioritization set to all the time, when needed, or off. I set the prioritization to my PC (as I stream on Twitch) and turned on 3 T.vs for streaming (1 in 4k), my wife's phone watching a youtube video, my phone watching a youtube video, my kid's PC running a game. My gaming stream resulted in 0 lag as well as 0 lag on any of the devices. While I understand the test is not the norm with all that stuff on simultaneously but I needed to test the prioritization capabilities under load Download Speed (mb/s): Roughly the same Upload Speed (mb/s): I tested all of the routers under the load/stress described above and the XR700 all the way. C5400X ranged between 7-15mb/s up, and the Asus and AD7200 were slightly better between 22-27 mb/s. The XR700 came in at a 37-39 mb/s (mainly due to the Qos/Prioritization) Signal Strength: All pretty much the same and very respectable (cover a home roughly 2500 sq ft across 2 levels) though the Archer C5400X held a very slight lead. If you have a larger home and find an area with space where you don't get adequate signal you can use a range extender with the XR700. For you that would be something to consider as it would be an additional cost but for me the range of the Wifi of the XR700 is perfect me regardless if I was inside or outside. Final Thoughts: This is an expensive router. For me and my needs it is unreal and well worth it...to the point I asked if it wanted to sleep in the bed with my wife and I as a reward and it politely said no as we had just met and it only puts out a signal on the first date...and put out a signal it did. Keep in mind the points I made above as all the routers I tested were inherently good routers it is just this router for my needs was the best. Understand what your needs are before buying something with this eye gouging price tag unless you truly need and will utilize all that it has to offer.

I’m a network engineer and I wanted to replace my enterprise gear at home with something simple to manage, yet powerful. I’m getting old and I’d rather not troubleshoot network problems at home. Not that it happens often, but it’s been a nightmare when the wife calls saying that the Internet isn’t working. Time to downgrade. Enter the Netgear XR500. The XR500 ticks off the boxes I was looking for: -It does not need to be rebooted for silly wireless issues. It’s rock-solid stable. -Never needs a reboot to change a setting. -The WiFi range goes well into my yard, past my neighbors home and into the street. How?? It blows away a multiple AP setup it replaced. -My iPhone X is speed testing at 91/5.5 on a 100/5 Internet connection. My computers test at 110+/5.5. -AirPlay runs flawessly to my Apple TV 4K. -Initial setup is simple. My dog could have done it. -VPN is simple to configure and has detailed instructions accompanying the menu options. -Dynamic DNS is insanely easy to turn on. It even configured an account for me. While there are very few drawbacks: -Remote admin can only be secured to one IP or a range. I can’t input a list of IP’s I’d like to have access from. -There’s no mobile app for DumaOS. The web view works pretty well on mobile though, so I’d say that 75% makes up for it. (UPDATE 10/27/18: The Nigthawk app works great with this router; I highly recommend it.) -I could not get the Internet to work in “manual setup” mode. The router would proxy any DNS address to itself: 192.168.1.1. There might be a bug that caused the proxy not to turn off, or maybe there’s a setting I simply couldn’t locate. When I used the automatic setup, Internet started working in one click. Overall I’m very happy with my XR500 and I’m excited to have my home network all under one box again. My “issues” with the router are all “fussy network engineer-problems” that most users would *never ever* encounter. Since my number one concern was stability, I would go as far to say that there is no other home-class router on the market that could satisfy me. I’m a demanding user and the XR500 delivers in spades. In the network world, this thing is the equivalent to an indestructible tank. Congratulations to the Netgear and DumaOS teams who developed this product. You absolutely outdid yourselves. UPDATE 10/27/18: I'm still absolutely loving this router, and I can't recommend it enough. I recently updated my XR500 to the latest firmware, and believe it or not, it didn't require a reboot! This thing NEVER needs to reboot. You may be able to tell that I'm the kind of techie that gets excited about servers with up-times measured in decades. The XR500 definitely gives off that feel! I hadn't thought about it until today, but we never have network problems at home anymore. Not even one- The last time the Internet stopped working, it was because the power was out during a storm. This device is amazing, and I have ZERO regrets in my purchase decision.
