Excellent compact charger
Much faster than `universal' chargers which generally charge at 15mA the Maha 490 is a well made unit that charges quickly without over-charge, it charges 7.2, 8.4 & 9.6 volt Ni-MH batteries (Not suitable for Li-ion) points to note:Simple to operate; just plug in, connect adaptor to charger, insert battery(ies). A red LED = charge in progress, green = fully charged. Blinking red = bad battery, perhaps voltage too high.Charging current is stated at 70-90 mA - I suspect the lower current is with all four bays filled.The car adaptor is capable of charging 8 cell 9.6 volt batteries fully as it probably uses a voltage multiplier to achieve correct charge voltage. Buy it again for sure.And received a day earlier than estimated, thank you!

Does what it says on the tin, but get the right batteries
This is so good and works as described. The only thing is it needs specific batteries which I don't think is very well explained in the purchasing blurb. I had a couple that were supposedly compatible but didn't hold their charge very well. Once sorted I out that problem I've not had an issue with this at all. This is being used to recharge 4 batteries as my TENS machine is in constant use at present due to sprained ligaments in my knee, so being able to have access to charged batteries when I need it is really key in managing the pain. Charger worked as advertised but has now stopped working after ...
Charger worked as advertised but has now stopped working after 6 months. NOT impressed !!!!!!!Also, I am unable to return it now as the returns window has closed.UPDATE - Emailed Amazon regarding the faulty charger. Just had a very prompt response and a replacement is on its way FOC.Well done Amazon !!

Fully charge PP3 batteries without risking over-charging and damaging them.
It took me several failed attempts before I eventually found this smart charger. No more having to guess how long to charge fully without risking over-charging and damaging partially discharged batteries. Great!

This is a really good charger. Its intelligence means that NiMH batteries last much longer than NiCds with cheaper chargers, both in terms of individual charges and of overall battery life.
